  • Patent number: 10898079
Abstract: Detection of intravascular plaque in OCT images is carried out by obtaining images of vascular tissue from a vascular component by OCT either in a static mode of a single image or in a dynamic mode where the images are obtained by scanning. The method acts by dividing the OCT image into different regular regions, calculating different texture features for each of the above regions with a reduced set of less than a full set of the 26 Haralick textural features, using a clustering algorithm to segment the image defined by its texture features calculated above into different regions and transforming the segmented image back from its representation using texture features to its space-domain representation. The method uses three or four texture features where the reduced sets can be f1, f 2, and f14 (ASM at 0°, Inertia at 0° and ASM at 90°).

  • Patent number: 9562854
Abstract: Methods and/or systems are disclosed herein for use in imaging an object including using interferometry while modifying at least one characteristic of the object such as the spatial distribution of the refractive index of the object. The interferometry imaging data may be processed with one or more image processing algorithms that take into account the modification, or change, in the spatial distribution of the refractive index of the object.

  • Patent number: 7508523
Abstract: The invention provides an interferometric system and method for quadrature detection of optical characteristics of a sample. The system includes a Mach-Zehnder interferometer providing a variable optical delay between light collected from the sample and reference light. The Mach-Zehnder interferometer has an output M×N coupler with N?3 output ports. Two differential detectors, each having two input ports coupled to a different two of the N output ports of the M×N coupler, produce first and second electrical signals having an interferometric phase shift. A processor is provided for computing real and imaginary parts of a complex refractive index of the sample from the first and second electrical signals by using complex deconvolution.

Date of Patent: March 24, 2009
Assignee: National Research Council of Canada

  • Patent number: 7031054
Abstract: An imaging system for imaging an object onto an image plane. An optical arrangement forms an intermediate image of the object at an intermediate plane with a first value of axial resolution. The imaging system also includes a digital processor configured to process the intermediate image to form a final image of the object. The imaging system further includes a specially designed optical element that cooperates with the optical arrangement and the digital processor to define a second value of axial resolution that is greater than the first value.
