    Abstract: A composition and method for color coating an expanded polystyrene "drop-out" ceiling tile, by which its heat shrinking drop-out characteristic is preserved. The composition comprises a water soluble salt of a polymer of acrylic acid as a film forming component, a plasticizing component, a pigment component and a pigment dispersing component such as clay. The ceiling drop-out and surface flame properties of the polyacrylate coated expanded polystyrene substrate compare favorably with those of uncoated expanded polystyrene used for the same purpose.
