Abstract: A method, apparatus and systems for managing and communicating the availability of a first user to a community using an electronic message board connected to a wall or door. The electronic message board may display messages to the community. The first user and the community may leave recorded audio and/or video messages for each other on the electronic message board through a user interface and the location of the first user may be determined by the electronic message board and displayed to the community.

Abstract: A board game includes a plurality of game pieces, a plurality of reward cards, and a game board, where the game board includes a travel path on the game board, said travel path including a plurality of instruction spaces, a plurality of hidden cache spaces, and a plurality of open cache spaces, where one of said plurality of hidden cache spaces and one of said plurality of open cache spaces are associated with one of said plurality of game pieces, and at least one instruction space includes directions to add one of said plurality of reward cards to one of said plurality of open cache spaces that is associated with one of said plurality of game pieces.

Abstract: The electronic field guide of the invention presents multiple data items to an end user, via the display of a stationary computer, and allows the user to select particular ones of the multiple data items that are available. Multimedia data files corresponding to the selected items are then downloaded onto a portable computing device such as a personal digital assistant (PDA). Thus, the user will have access to a subset of the overall data on his portable PDA. This invention may be used, for example, to provide electronic field guides in such applications as bird watching, where the multimedia data files contain the images of birds, audio files containing their songs, and text data. The main data may be stored on a CDrom, be made available over the Internet, or be provided in some other manner.

Abstract: A method for provisioning electronic field guides comprising the steps of: presenting multiple data items to an end user, via the display of a stationary computer; and responding to the selection of particular ones of said multiple data items by said user, by: downloading multimedia data files corresponding to said particular ones of said multiple data items, to a portable computing device; whereby said portable computing device may present the multimedia content to the end user in the field.
