  • Publication number: 20030197807
Abstract: A light bulb adapter camera system and method for same are provided. The system comprises a housing and a data processor having an interface to accept digital image information and an output to supply network formatted digital image information. The system also includes a light bulb compatible screw base for mounting the camera adapter in a light bulb socket and for accepting AC current. A light bulb female socket is typically included to accept a light bulb and to supply AC current, so that the fixture continues to enjoy use as a light bulb fixture, supplying light for the camera. In one aspect of the system the camera is mounted in the housing. A joint between the housing and the screw base is used for rotating and tilting the housing so that the camera-viewing angle can be changed. The system can also interface to microphone and audio speaker interfaces.

  • Publication number: 20030174238
Abstract: A system and method are provided for a hot-swappable digital camera head. The system comprises a processing unit with a port to receive digital image information from a camera head. The processing unit includes a memory, and a digital signal processor to process the image information and compress it for storage in the memory. The processor unit can supply either processed (raw) image information, or compressed image information. The detachable head includes a lens, a light sensing device, and a port for connection to the processing unit port, to supply the digital image information. The processing unit can be attached to one of a plurality of head models, where each head model supplies digital image information in a potentially different image information format. The differences in formats can be related to the light sensing device used or variance between manufacturer interfaces.

  • Publication number: 20030094858
Abstract: A concise electronic timer is composed of an adjustable resistor, a supercapacitor and an electromagnetic relay. After a main power is turned off, electricity supplied from the capacitor to the relay will extend or actuate the operation of a load until the discharge of the capacitor is over. Incorporating the resistor with the other two elements, the discharge time of the capacitor can be altered linearly by the resistor, therefore, a linear arrangement of delay extension and time of activation is attained. The simple, compact and economical timer can be used for indoor and outdoor illumination, monitoring security systems, as well as actuating systems.

  • Patent number: 6512667
Abstract: Using thin-films of iron oxide as the active material of electrodes, supercapacitors are fabricated on various substrates in different shapes. By chemical oxidation the iron-oxide film is formed directly and conformably on the substrates in a short period of cooking. The iron oxide has a chemical composition of FexOyHz, where 1.0≦x≦3.0, 0.0≦y≦4.0, and 0.0≦z≦1.0. Substrates, as the current collector, tested includes Al, Ti, Fe, Cu and Ni. Measurements by cyclic voltammetry indicates that the iron-oxide electrodes in a selected electrolyte can store charges as high as 0.5 F/cm2 or 417 F/g of the electrode materials. Supercapacitors as prepared are economical and can be used as enclosure housings for portable electronics, power tools, and batteries. The supercapacitors can also be integrated with the frames and chassis of electric vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20030011965
Abstract: Iron oxide film directly grown on iron, steel, or other substrates by chemical or electrochemical oxidation is a promising material for energy storage through surface adsorption of static charges. As the electrode materials of energy-storage devices, the iron oxide has a chemical composition of FexOyHz, where 1.0≦x≦3.0, 0.0≦y≦4.0, and 0 0≦z≦1.0. An aqueous or organic solution of a metallic salt including sulfates, sulfites, hydroxides, chlorides, phosphates and nitrates is used as electrolyte for the electrochemical devices. Cyclic voltammetry indicates that the iron-oxide electrodes in the electrolytes can store charges as high as 0.5 F/cm2 or 320 F/g of the electrode materials. Electrochemical capacitors using the iron oxide as the electrode material is an economical and viable power source for use in portable electronics, power tools, and electrical vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6475154
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for non-invasive blood-pressure measurement performing step-by-step inflating and deflating of the cuff pressure are disclosed. The step-by-step inflation-and-deflation process of the invention can determine the highest inflating pressure and provide enough data to obtain a curve fitting envelope. Therefore, the inflation pressure of the cuff to be pumped much higher than the normal systolic pressure of the conventional method can be prevented. A comfortable systolic and diastolic pressure determination method applying fuzzy control is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5849516
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel semiselective medium composition for detecting seed-borne Alternaria brassicicola, which comprises galactose, calcium nitrate, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, magnesium sulfate, agar, benomyl, and chloramphenicol. The CW medium of the present invention can selectively allow seed-borne Alternaria brassicicola to grow, while effectively suppressing the growth of other seed-borne fungi. Although A. alternata, which is prevalently present on seeds and is similar to A. brassicicola, can still grow on the CW medium, the color of the A. alternata colonies are different from that of A. brassicicola, thus, A. brassicicola can be obviously differentiated.
