  • Publication number: 20110154192
Abstract: A collaboration system includes a remote server system and one or more client devices connected to the remote server system, at least one of which being a first client device that includes a touch screen display. Upon receipt of a user instruction, the collaboration system opens a document at the first client device and displays the document on the touch screen display to a first user. The collaboration system detects a first comment on the document from the first user through interacting with the touch screen display. The collaboration system receives a second comment on the document from the remote server system. The second comment is generated by a second user of a second client device and transmitted to the remote server system through a computer network. • Patent number: 7523163
Abstract: A distributed collaborative computer system is provided that comprises a plurality of server computers interconnected via a high-speed link. Client computers can connect to any available server computer and start or join a conference hosted on either the server computer to which the client computer is connected or any other server in the system. As a result, the system and method of the present invention is easily scalable to support an arbitrary number of participants to a conference by merely adding the appropriate number of server computers to the system. In addition, by replicating the conference information on more than one server computer, the single point of failure limitation is eliminated. In fact, if a server hosting or participating in a conference malfunctions, the failure is detected by other server computers and the client computer is able to reconnect to the conference through a new server computer.

  • Publication number: 20080019986
Abstract: This invention provides a method of inhibiting the binding of a ?-sheet fibril to RAGE on the surface of a cell which comprises contacting the cell with a binding inhibiting amount of a compound capable of inhibiting binding of the ?-sheet fibril to RAGE so as to thereby inhibit binding of the ?-sheet fibril to RAGE. In one embodiment the ?-sheet fibril is amyloid fibril. In one embodiment, the compound is sRAGE or a fragment thereof. In another embodiment, the compound is an anti-RAGE antibody or portion thereof. This invention provides the above method wherein the inhibition of binding of the ?-sheet fibril to RAGE has the consequences of decreasing the load of ?-sheet fibril in the tissue, inhibiting fibril-induced programmed cell death, inhibiting fibril-induced cell stress. This invention also provides methods of determining whether a compound inhibits binding of a ?-sheet fibril to RAGE on the surface of a cell.

  • Patent number: 7069298
Abstract: A fault-tolerant distributed collaborative computer system is provided that comprises a plurality of server computers interconnected via a high-speed link. By replicating the conference information on more than one server computer, the single point of failure limitation is eliminated. In fact, if a server hosting or participating in a conference malfunctions, the failure is detected by other server computers and the client computer is able to reconnect to the conference through a new server computer. In addition, the state of processes executed by the server computers is periodically replicated, so that when failure of a process is detected a new processes can be spawned and the replicated state information loaded onto the new process, allowing the on-line conference to continue.
