  • Patent number: 11284417
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communication by a base station (BS). The method generally includes receiving an indication of current remaining available transmit power from a user equipment (UE). The method further includes communicating information indicating a data rate parameter and a communication configuration to the UE. The data rate parameter is for use by the UE on an uplink with the BS. The communication configuration affects uplink transmission duty cycle on the uplink based on whether the current remaining available transmit power and a current channel state between the BS and the UE satisfy a condition. The method further includes receiving signals based on the data rate parameter and the communication configuration from the UE on the uplink.

  • Publication number: 20200367171
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to enable a user equipment (UE) to employ a discretionary on mode (e.g., powering receiver circuitry) in order to conserve power during discontinuous reception. The UE may discretionarily cut down an on time duration by delaying wake-up (e.g., powering on receiver circuitry) or by sleeping (e.g., powering down receiver circuitry) during portions of an on duration. The UE may also discretionarily skip one or more on durations. The UE may use hybrid automatic repeat request retransmissions to receive information that may be missed when sleeping during a configured on duration. The UE may evaluate one or more conditions in order to determine whether to employ a discretionary on mode. For example, the UE may determine to conserve power based on one or more of a data traffic type, a battery level, a channel condition, a retransmission policy, or physical layer activities.

  • Publication number: 20200366440
Abstract: Long term evolution (LTE) common reference signal (CRS)-assisted new radio (NR) tracking operations are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may obtain a colocation indication identifying a quasi-colocation (QCL) status of a legacy network downlink antenna associated with one or more cell-specific reference signal (CRS) resource elements (REs) and an advanced network downlink antenna in communication with the UE. The UE may then perform a tracking loop operation for the advanced network using the one or more CRS REs of the legacy network in response to the QCL status indicating a QCL state, wherein the QCL state indicates the legacy network downlink antenna is quasi-colocated with the advanced network downlink antenna.

  • Publication number: 20170127439
Abstract: Various embodiments may include methods for handling collisions between a first subscription and a second subscription of a wireless communication device. In various embodiments, a processor of the wireless communication device may determine whether there are persistent collisions between periodic paging wake-ups on the first subscription and periodic inter-RAT measurements on the second subscription. When persistent collisions are detected, the time for performing each inter-RAT measurement on the second subscription may be extended sufficient to enable completing inter-RAT measurements on the second subscription. The amount by which the time for performing inter-RAT measurements is extended may depend upon the timing and duration of the persistent collisions.

  • Publication number: 20170078177
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing call drop rate by validating reconfiguration messages based on service data unit (SDU) lifetime are described. A receiving device, such as a user equipment, may determine a receiving delay between receiving a first protocol data unit (PDU) and receiving a last PDU of a reconfiguration message SDU. The receiving delay may be compared with an SDU lifetime. The reconfiguration message SDU may be validated based on the comparison of the receiving delay with the SDU lifetime. A receiving delay that is greater than the SDU lifetime may indicate that the SDU is stale and, therefore, invalid. A receiving delay that is less than the SDU lifetime may indicate that the timing of the SDU is valid and the reconfiguration message SDU is to be processed. An activation time of the reconfiguration message SDU may also be honored or disregarded based on the receiving delay.
