  • Patent number: 6406186
Abstract: A wheel bearing device comprises a rotor having a double row of raceway surfaces and having a wheel fixed thereto, an outer ring having a double row of raceway surfaces and a flange to be fixed to a knuckle disposed on the car body side, and a double row of rolling bodies interposed between the respective raceway surfaces of the rotor and outer ring. A pulser ring is disposed between the double row of raceway surfaces of the rotor, and a sensor opposed to the pulser ring is held by a holding member held between the flange of the outer ring and the knuckle, whereby the sensor can be disposed in the bearing inner space.

  • Publication number: 20020068639
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to prevent occurrence of play between a hub ring and a stem portion of a joint outer ring. In a wheel bearing device in which a hub ring, a double-row bearing and a constant velocity universal joint are unitized together, one of double-row inner raceways of a bearing is formed on the joint outer ring of the constant velocity universal joint, and an end portion of the joint outer ring is fitted to an outside periphery of the hub ring through serrated portions, wherein the hub ring is plastically deformed and expanded from an inside diameter side toward an outside diameter side by pushing a steel ball into a through hole of the hub ring, and play in the serrated portions is prevented by the diameter expansion.

  • Patent number: 6357925
Abstract: Reliable wheel bearing assemblies are proposed which need no troublesome runout adjustment at a car assembling factory. There are provided wheel bearing assemblies comprising an outer member having two raceways on an inner circumferential surface thereof, an inner member having raceways each provided opposite the two raceways of the outer member, and rolling elements arranged in two rows between the outer and inner members. One of the outer and inner members is provided with a wheel mounting flange. The runout of the wheel mounting flange is restricted within a predetermined value, and a brake rotor is fixed to one side of the wheel mounting flange. Different methods for minimizing the runout are proposed.

  • Publication number: 20020003071
Abstract: A wheel bearing assembly is provided which can suppress brake judder. A film is disposed between the brake rotor-mounting surface of the wheel mounting flange and an abutment surface of a brake rotor to fill a gap therebetween to suppress the deformation of the brake rotor. Also, by concentrating the contact force between the wheel-mounting flange and the brake rotor when a disc wheel of the wheel is tightened to the hub bolts to a portion near the hub bolts, the contact between the wheel-mounting flange and the brake rotor on the surfaces between the hub bolts is suppressed so that undulation of the flat surfaces between the hub bolts will not cause deformation of the brake rotor.

  • Patent number: 5931272
Abstract: An input-side rotary member 20, including an input gear 7, and an output-side rotary member 19, including a torque cam 1 fixedly mounted on an output shaft 12, are provided on the same axis of rotation. The input-side rotary member 20 is provided with an input cage 3 having a plurality of radially extending pockets 30 and balls 9 movably accommodated within the respective pockets 30. The torque cam 1 is provided with a generally annular cam groove 31 in which the balls 9 move rollingly, which groove 31 is of a shape having a distance from the axis of rotation that varies continuously. A presser member 2 is provided with a pressing face 2a by which the balls 9 are urged by a spring element 4. In this way, the input rotation of, for example, an engine can be reduced and then transmitted to a driven device such as an engine auxiliary equipment 102 with respect to the boundary set by a preset torque value.
