  • Publication number: 20020159072
Abstract: When a scanning start position set signal is input in an area image sensor, the content is transferred to a vertical scanning circuit, and the scan start position is set. Image of a desired row is read by horizontal scanning. Then, one shift signal for vertical scanning is input, the position of scanning is shifted by one row, and horizontal scanning is performed. Thus image of the next row is read. By repeating this operation, a desired strip-shaped image is read. The shape of the object is determined and when a portion is determined to have complicated shape, the image data is input by means of a lens having long focal length, and image data of other portions are input by means of a lens having short focal length. By putting together a plurality of input image data, image data as a whole is generated.

  • Patent number: 6438507
Abstract: A method for accomplishing position alignment of two sets of three-dimensional data obtained by photographing an object from different directions, the method comprising a step of converting both sets or one set of two sets of three-dimensional data to a common coordinate system to accomplish approximate positional alignment, a step of projecting the two sets of three-dimensional data subjected to approximate positional alignment from a single common viewpoint onto a single common projection surface to generate two two-dimensional images, and a step of correcting positional dislocation of the two sets of three-dimensional data by evaluating the dislocation of the two two-dimensional images.

  • Patent number: 6389153
Abstract: A distance information generator comprises an image sensor which senses an object, a distance detector which detects a first distance between a predetermined position and the object, a memory which stores position information expressing a mutual positional relationship of the predetermined position and the position of the image sensor, and a calculator which calculates a second distance between the position of the image sensor and the object based on the first distance and the position information. A display device displays a composite image which consists of a sensed image and a virtual image for an observer, wherein the composite image is created by comparing the second distance and distance information involved in the virtual image.

  • Patent number: 6346949
Abstract: In a processor for generating a three-dimensional form model, data MX on an object having a three-dimensional form are read, while two-dimensional color image GX1 are read in correspondence to the form data MX. Then, color boundaries are discriminated in the color image GX1, and the form data MX are thinned except portions in correspondence to the color boundaries. Thus, the amount of data is reduced without losing information on the color boundaries of the form.

  • Patent number: 6084557
Abstract: A video see through AR system capable of obtaining correct depth information with respect to each pixel representing a two-dimensional image is disclosed so that a portion of imagery which should appear in the background of a final picture may be properly hidden behind imagery which should appear in the foreground of the final picture. A photographing device is provided for obtaining a two-dimensional image of a real object field disposed in conjugate relationship with an observer's eyes. Also provided is a device for measuring distances with respect to each pixel to the real object to be measured. The measured distance is compared with the distance to virtual imagery with respect to each pixel and the pixel which represents the imagery disposed closer to the observer is selected for the formation of combined imagery, which is displayed on the screen of a display device.

  • Patent number: 5990895
Abstract: Three-dimensional data processing device and three-dimensional data processing method for splicing together two pieces of three-dimensional data taken from different directions. Three-dimensional data and two-dimensional image data pertaining to a target object are inputted by a three-dimensional input camera from various directions. Two color images which are based on the two-dimensional image data inputted from two different directions are displayed on a display of a personal computer, and points of the two color images are specified by an operator. Two pieces of three-dimensional data corresponding to the two-dimensional image data are spliced together based on the points of the two color images (two-dimensional image data) by the personal computer.
