  • Publication number: 20150204224
Abstract: A particulate filter for trapping particulate filter which is contained in exhaust gas is arranged in an engine exhaust passage. The particulate filter is provided with exhaust gas inflow passages and exhaust gas outflow passages which are alternately arranged via porous partition walls. Movement promoting control is performed to promote movement of the ash which deposits on the inner circumferences of the exhaust gas inflow passages to the rear parts of the exhaust gas inflow passages. The pressure loss of the particulate filter is detected. When the detected pressure loss is larger than a predetermined upper limit value, PM removal control is performed to remove the particulate matter from the particulate filter.

  • Patent number: 8341940
Abstract: In an addition-amount controller for an exhaust gas purifying agent to be used for an exhaust emission control system, a catalyst has properties of storing NH3 and further decreasing the critical reaction temperature as an amount of NH3 storage at the catalyst is increased. In the addition-amount controller, a present NH3 storage amount that is a storage amount of NH3 of the catalyst is detected at a detection time, the NH3 storage amount of the catalyst is changed by controlling an addition amount by an addition valve, and the NH3 storage amount of the catalyst is controlled to a target NH3 storage amount based on the detected present NH3 storage amount.

  • Patent number: 8119988
Abstract: A filter 2 for collecting PMs, a microwave transmitter 30 for emitting electromagnetic waves whose frequency is dozens of GHz-a few of THz onto the filter 2, a microwave receiver 31 for detecting an intensity of the electromagnetic waves that have transmitted through the filter 2, and a computing means for computing a collection amount of PMs from the intensity that has been detected with the microwave receiver 31 are included. Since it is possible to detect the distribution of the collection amount of PMs with good accuracy, it is possible to carry out a recycling process in a state where the collection amount does not become too much, and thereby it is possible to make a reducing-agent supply amount into exhaust gases minimum at the time of the recycling process.

  • Patent number: 6739177
Abstract: Correction of a fuel injection amount in an internal combustion engine during purge of evaporative fuel is performed on the basis of an output from an intake-oxygen concentration sensor disposed in an intake passage of the internal combustion engine. If the amplitude of fluctuations in engine speed becomes equal to or greater than a predetermined value, it is determined that there is an anomaly in engine output. In addition, if an anomaly in engine output is detected during purge and if no anomaly in engine output is detected during stoppage of purge, an ECU determines that an anomaly has occurred in the intake-oxygen concentration sensor, cancels correction of the fuel injection amount based on an output from the intake-oxygen concentration sensor during purge, and corrects the fuel injection amount on the basis of outputs from exhaust-gas air-fuel ratio sensors.

  • Patent number: 6725651
Abstract: A reducing agent for use in an internal combustion engine is a mixture of an ammonia-derived solid reducing material and a water-insoluble liquid in which the solid reducing agent is immersed. A reducing-agent supply device is provided for supplying a denitration catalyst with the reducing agent, such that the reducing agent is introduced into a portion of an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine which is upstream of the denitration catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4784102
Abstract: A fuel injection system in which a fuel injector having a fuel pressure control chamber formed therein to create a pressure which forces a needle valve in the closing direction to open and close the nozzle hole, an accumulator to retain fuel discharged from the nozzle hole, and a fuel injector provided at each of the cylinders of the engine, are connected to the fuel injection pump by a single piping system without utilizing a special distribution mechanism. The volume of the fuel pressure control chamber in the fuel injector can be changed by a piezo-actuator. A check valve is provided at a half way point of the piping which leads the fuel fed under pressure from the fuel injection pump to the fuel injector into the fuel pressure control chamber and the accumulator, so that the fuel is fed through the check valve into the fuel pressure control chamber and the accumulator.
