  • Publication number: 20060052563
Abstract: This invention is related to a production method of a branched polymer which comprises polymerizing a macromonomer [I], said macromonomer [I] being a vinyl polymer obtainable by radical polymerization and terminally having one polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond-containing group per molecule. Furthermore, by producing the macromonomer by living radical polymerization, in particular atom transfer radical polymerization, it becomes possible to produce the above polymers or gels having a well controlled side chain molecular weights.

  • Patent number: 6890909
Abstract: A brain-protective agent containing an NF-?B decoy. In brain diseases, the brain can be particularly effectively protected against brain disorders (for example, cerebral vasospasm following a subrachnoidal hemorrhage and apoptosis of the nerve cells following a cerebrovasucular accident or serious head injury) caused by the undesired activation of cytokines or cell adhesion factors which are regulated by NF-?B by administering the brain-protective agent containing an NF-?B decoy, i.e., acompound antadonistic specifically to a nucleic acid to which NF-?B binds.

  • Patent number: 6261532
Abstract: The temperature of a catalyst is heated to 535° C. with an electric furnace for feeding hydrogen gas into a reaction tube at a flow rate of 50 cc/min. for two hours and reducing the catalyst, and thereafter reaction gas containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide in a mixing ratio of 2:1 is fed into the reaction tube. The carbon dioxide contained in the reaction gas is reduced with hydrogen by coming into contact with the catalyst, and carbon such as carbon nanotube is precipitated on the surface of the catalyst. The carbon nanotube or the like can be produced under a lower temperature and ordinary pressure with no requirement for a specific apparatus for high-temperature and high-pressure reaction.

  • Patent number: 6180396
Abstract: An anaerobic fermentation part generates gas containing methane and carbon dioxide by anaerobically fermenting biomass. The gas is passed to a methane.carbon dioxide separation part to be separated into methane and carbon dioxide, and part of the separated methane is fed to a methane reforming part to be decomposed into carbon and hydrogen under the presence of a catalyst. The carbon dioxide separated in the methane.carbon dioxide separation part and the hydrogen formed in the methane reforming part are fed to a carbon dioxide fixing part, which in turn reacts the carbon dioxide with the hydrogen under the presence of a catalyst for continuously forming carbon and hydrogen and fixing the carbon dioxide.

  • Patent number: 5967905
Abstract: A golf club head comprises an outer titanium club-head shell, and a titanium sole portion integrally coupled to the outer club-head shell. A weight fitting hole is bored in the sole portion, and a plurality of cutouts are formed in the inner peripheral edge portion of the fitting hole. A weight made of metal having a specific gravity higher than that of titanium is inserted into the fitting hole, and the weight is fixed to the sole portion after press-deformed so that its outer peripheral edges are press-fitted into the respective cutouts.

  • Patent number: 5731567
Abstract: A method of performing thermal working to metal material containing helium, which comprises the steps of previously feeding current through a thermally working portion of the metal material containing helium to thereby reduce a helium content in the portion without melting the portion and then heating and melting the portion to improve the defects of the metal structure of the metal material containing helium. As a result, the improvement and removal of defects of the metal structure can be achieved by reducing a helium content in the thermally working portion of the metal material.
