  • Patent number: 5957190
Abstract: In a method of integrally attaching a hollow member to a cast product by casting so that the hollow member communicates with a hollow interior of the cast product, a closure member is fitted into an open end of the hollow member so that the open end of the hollow member is closed by the closure member. The closure member projects from a core for forming the hollow interior of the cast product in a direction different from a direction in which the core is drawn out of the cast product. A molten metal is poured into a casting mold after the casting mold has been clamped. The closure member is moved inside the core after solidification of the molten metal so that the closure member is released from the fitting in the hollow member. The core is drawn out of the solidified metal subsequently to the moving step of the closure member.

  • Patent number: 5423369
Abstract: In a method of vacuum casting molten metal sucked from a molten metal reservoir into a cavity held under a reduced pressure by opening a gate having been blocking the communication between the molten metal reservoir and the cavity, the trapping of gas and foreign matter in the cavity is effectively prevented. To this end, an accommodation space for accommodating gas and foreign matter is provided in the molten metal reservoir. The accommodation space is provided at a position from which the accommodated matter is not sucked into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5377972
Abstract: A sorter for sorting sheets out is provided with a bin unit including a plurality of bins having specified length and width and a bin shifting mechanism for shifting the bin unit upward and downward. The respect ire bins are vertically spaced apart and adapted for placing the sorted sheets thereon. The sorter is further provided with a first detector for detecting that the bin unit has been moved down to a home position region defined in a lower portion of the sorter, and a shift controller for controlling the bin shifting mechanism. The shift controller shifts the bin unit downward until the first detector conducts the detection when the bin unit is not in the home position region when the power is applied the sorter. Accordingly, the home position of the bin unit can be detected accurately with a simple structure.

  • Patent number: 4975677
Abstract: A variable resistor including a resistive element and a conductive element supported by a plate. Contacting terminals are provided on one or more ends of each element. A carriage is slidably supported above the elements and a conductive roller is supported from the carriage by a suspension member that biases the conductive roller against the elements. The effective length of the current path through the resistive element is varied by using the conductive roller to electrically connect the two elements to one another along different portions of their length. In a preferred embodiment, the carriage moves under the guidance of at least one guide bar and the conductive roller is suspended from the carriage by a coiled spring.
