  • Patent number: 5517630
Abstract: An electronic apparatus having read-only memories (ROMs), wherein a second ROM having a region capable of being read with addresses common to a part of an address region of a first ROM can be connected. Reading from addresses included within the address region of the first ROM is performed from the second ROM when the addresses are also included within the address region of the second ROM, and from the first ROM for other cases. Furthermore, the first ROM can be replaced with a third ROM, to which addresses not overlapped with those of the second ROM are assigned.

  • Patent number: 5479607
Abstract: A video data processing system includes a CPU, a video memory, video data shift registers, a ternary counter, an octal counter, a blanking counter, and a flip-flop. Video data is shifted in the shift registers in response to an output from the ternary counter. The outputs from the ternary counter are counted by the octal counter, and an output from the octal counter is counted by the blanking counter so as to count down a blanking parameter. A borrow output from the blanking sets the flip-flop to hold video data which is then stored in the video memory. This operation is repeated up to the last H along the main scanning direction. The initial value of the blanking parameter is incremented by one by one to repeat main scanning inputs along a subscanning direction.

  • Patent number: 5450106
Abstract: In a recording apparatus employing a magnetic linear encoder that includes a magnetized scale and a magnetic head movable along the scale, in order to enable efficient mounting of the scale on the recording apparatus and to enable tension adjustment of the scale, support members are provided for detachably supporting the scale, as is a device for providing tension during the mounting of the scale on side plates of the recording apparatus. Also, the magnetized portion of the scale is positioned behind the carriage. Further, the magnetic head is provided with dust shield members which are in contact with, but rendered slidable with respect to, the scale.

  • Patent number: 5434602
Abstract: A recording apparatus, which is provided with a carriage supporting a recording head or reciprocating along a platen, includes a magnetized scale of a magnetic linear encoder positioned along a moving direction of the carriage, and a magnetic head of the magnetic linear encoder, mounted on the carriage and adapted for reading the magnetized pattern of the scale. The scale is provided with at least two magnetized lines of mutually different pitches of magnetization, for recording position information relating to the recording operation, and position information relating to other functions.

  • Patent number: 4933684
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus and method for preventing condensation from forming in a recording area having heaters for heating a recording head and a recording medium, a humidity detector for detecting the humidity in the recording area and a controller for controlling the temperature of the heaters in response to the humidity detected by the humidity detector. The controller decreases the temperature difference between the recording head and the recording medium by adjusting the heaters in order to lower the humidity in the recording area when it is higher than a predetermined value. If the humidity in the recording area is not controlled the quality of the recording will be impaired.

  • Patent number: 4891769
Abstract: A printer which receives data and commands which are transferred from a data processing apparatus serving as an external apparatus such as a host computer and prints the data. This printer includes a setting circuit to set information regarding the printing; this setting circuit having a first mode in which the information regarding the printing can be designated irrespective of the information from the external apparatus and a second mode in which the information regarding the printing is designated on the basis of the information from the external apparatus. A deciding circuit to decide whether the information regarding the printing has been set to predetermined information by the setting circuit or not and a control unit for controlling the printer in a manner such that the priority is given to the first mode when the information regarding the printing has been set to information other than the predetermined information on the basis of the decision of the deciding means.
