  • Publication number: 20020023496
Abstract: A diagnostic apparatus for diagnosing abnormal vibration of a bearing provided for a rotary shaft of a roller, such as one of a series of table rollers, even in a place with no facilities of external power supply is disclosed. The diagnostic apparatus includes a vibration detector that detects vibration of a bearing; a computing unit that executes computation based on data detected by the vibration detector and received as an input signal; a monitoring device that provides a vibration status of the bearing based on an output signal from the computing unit; a generator that generates electric power by utilizing rotary motion of the rotary shaft as a motive power source; and a motive power transmitting device that transmits the rotary motion of the rotary shaft to the generator. The generated electric power is supplied to the vibration detector, the computing unit and the monitoring device. Methods of detecting vibration of bearings are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20020005267
Abstract: In a magnetic brake apparatus for a continuous casting mold having a pair of first and second upper electromagnets 17A and 17B which are oppositely placed near the rear faces of the opposing side walls of the continuous casting mold 10, and a pair of first and second lower electromagnets 21A and 21B which are oppositely placed thereunder, a static magnetic field being generated between each pair of electromagnets to stem the stream of the molten steel supplied to the casting mold by the static magnetic field, the apparatus has controlling units which independently control a current supplied to magnetic coils 16A and 16B being constituents of the first and second upper electromagnets and a current supplied to magnetic coils 20A and 20B being constituents of the first and second lower electromagnets.

  • Patent number: 6288001
Abstract: A graphite-containing monolithic refractory material comprises at least one component selected from alumina and alumina-magnesia spinel, which are divided into selected particle size regions, artificial graphite having a selected average particle size, and pitch powder. The refractory material may optionally comprise a selected amount of silicon carbide having a selected average particle size. The graphite-containing monolithic refractory material exhibits excellent casting workability at a low moisture content, and both excellent corrosion resistance and spalling resistance. The refractory material is suitable as a casting monolithic refractory material for lining a topedo ladle car.
