  • Patent number: 8038684
Abstract: A rod-shaped device holds the equatorial region of the lens capsule during cataract/intraocular lens implantation surgery of patients with a weak or ruptured Zinn zonule. The device has a handle with a length of 6 mm or more and a thickness ranging from 0.01 mm to 1.0 mm, a tip bent into an acute angle, with the length up to this angled tip being 1.5 mm or more from the trough of the bend, and the bent tip having a linear branched or flat pad, with the width between the branches being 1 mm or more or the flat pad having a surface area of 1 mm2 or more.

  • Patent number: 7850707
Abstract: An ultrasonic surgery apparatus enabling smooth surgery. The ultrasonic apparatus is provided with an ultrasonic chip, a vibration inducing unit which induces ultrasonic vibration to the ultrasonic chip, an aspiration unit which aspirates tissue emulsified by vibration of the ultrasonic chip, a detection unit which detects a clogging condition of the ultrasonic chip, a footswitch, having a pedal, for emitting an output signal which is based on a depression amount or a depression position of the pedal, and a control unit which controls at least one of ultrasonic power and a pulse-duty ratio of the ultrasonic vibration based on the output signal from the footswitch and a detection result obtained by the detection unit.

  • Patent number: 7563242
Abstract: An ultrasonic surgery apparatus capable of setting surgical conditions properly in accordance with hardness of a nucleus lentis and performing surgery with efficiency is disclosed. The ultrasonic surgery apparatus includes an ultrasonic vibration inducing unit, having an ultrasonic chip which induces ultrasonic vibrations to fragment and emulsify a nucleus lentis, an input unit which inputs a judgment result of hardness of the nucleus lentis, and a setting unit which sets a condition of the ultrasonic vibrations thereafter based on the inputted judgment result.

  • Patent number: 4176041
Abstract: In a method for reforming low grade coal to a carbonaceous material suitable for the production of metallurgical coke, steam coal (noncoking coal), such as sub-bituminous coal, brown coal, etc., is mixed with a catalyst, a co-catalyst (sulfur) and a hydrocarbonaceous heavy oil, and the mixture is thermally reformed in a reducing gaseous atmosphere at elevated pressure and temperature (400.degree. to 450.degree. C.) and the resultant reaction mixture is distilled at a reduced pressure of 40-150 mm Hg and at a temperature of 280.degree. to 350.degree. C. An iron type catalyst is used in proportions up to 3 wt.% based on the coal (on an ash-free, dry basis). The sulfur and heavy oil are recycled.
