Patent number: 5801640Abstract: A radio pager capable of processing a received message to add information to the message, so that the user may easily see the message on a display. Hyphens or similar symbols are added to a received message signal consisting only of numerals to thereby make it easy to see as a telephone number. The message with such symbols appears on a display. The positions for inserting the symbols are stored in the pager beforehand.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1997Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 5566081Abstract: In order to effectively reduce power consumption of a radio pager, an originally determined time period for which power is supplied to high power drain circuitry, is narrowed in the case where the interval between two adjacent code signals transmitted from a calling station becomes more than a predetermined time duration. Contrarily, if the above-mentioned interval is less than the predetermined time duration, the narrowed time period is changed to the original one.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1993Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Shigeo Yoshizawa, Kuniaki Koga

Patent number: 5493285Abstract: A paging receiver of the present invention includes a decoder for processing a paging number and a message signal of a transmitted radio signal and receives the radio signal selectively by comparing the paging number with a predetermined paging number of the receiver. A timer stamps the message signal with current time when the paging number coincides with the predetermined paging number of the receiver. A memory stores message signals already received and stamped with time information. The message signal stamped with current time is compared with the message signals stamped with received time stored in the memory and, when contents of these message signals are coincident and a difference in time between these message signals is within a predetermined time, the message signal is deemed as an urgent message and an urgent report is performed.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1994Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 5214791Abstract: In a radio communication apparatus of a specific identification number, a control part (14) produces one of first and second control signals to make a loudspeaker (19) generate an announcement in response to a received radio signal carrying an intermittent succession of frames which are preassigned to the apparatus and each of which includes first and second codewords, each comprising a call number and received with a signal condition. The first control signal is produced in accordance with the identification number, the call number of the first codeword, and the signal condition of the second codeword. The second control signal is produced in accordance with the identification number, the call number of the second codeword, and the signal condition of the first codeword. The control part may additionally produce a third control signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1991Date of Patent: May 25, 1993Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Shigeo Yoshizawa, Mamoru Sakaguchi

Patent number: 5140561Abstract: A method for eliminating the troublesome need to select and erase messages one by one which are stored in a memory of a radio pager. A multi-function switch is provided via which the pager can be switched on and off. A controller of the pager determines if each of messages stored in the memory has been retained in the memory for more than a predetermined period of time. Then, a message is erased in the event that one of: (A) the message has been stored in the memory for more than the predetermined time period and the multi-function switch is operated in a manner which changes the on/off status of the pager; and (B) (i) the message has been stored in the memory for more than the predetermined period of time and the pager is in the power on status, or (ii) the message has been stored in the memory for more than the predetermined period of time when the pager is switched on after being switched off.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1991Date of Patent: August 18, 1992Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Mafumi Miyashita, Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 5089208Abstract: A hollow container having a grip is formed by injection molding the grip and annular rings onto a blow molded container. An injection molded parison is first stretch blow molded to form a hollow container body having annular grooves. The hollow container body is then placed in a mold having molding grooves and a grip molding cavity. The molding grooves on the mold and the annular grooves on the container body together define connecting ring molding cavities. A pressure higher than ambient pressure is applied to the interior of the hollow container body. Then the grip and connecting rings are formed onto the hollow container body by injection filling the grip and connecting ring molding cavities.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1987Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Nissei ASB Machine Co, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshinori Nakamura, Yoshiki Miyazawa, Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 4855731Abstract: In a pager receiver having a display unit and carrying out operations in relation to each of previous and current messages stored in an RAM, only reception of the current message is indicated by an optical indicator included in the display unit when each operation is being carried out in relation to the previous message. The current message is displayed on an LCD of the display unit after completion of each operation related to the previous message. The previous message can completely be displayed without sudden interruption which may occur on reception of the current message. Each message is stored in an assigned sector set of the RAM with the number of the assigned sector set kept in an assigned file of the RAM. The number of the assigned file is monitored by a CPU to readily erase or protect each message.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Shigeo Yoshizawa, Takashi Ohyagi, Takashi Oda, Toshihiro Mori

Patent number: 4829544Abstract: A synchronizing circuit for synchronizing the phase of a clock signal to the phase of a received digital signal includes a phase monitoring circuit for detecting, during each bit period of the digital signal, the phase advance of delay of the clock signal relative to the digital signals. A phase signal is outputting which is indicative of the phase advance or delay of the clock signal. A phase control circuit responds to the phase signal to either advance, delay or leave unchanged the phase of the clock signal with respect to the received digital signal. An inhibiting circuit coupled to the phase control circuit operates to prevent the phase control circuit from reversing the sense of the phase adjustment from advance to delay or from delay to advance in consecutive bit positions, interposing instead one bit position during which the phase of the clock signal is left unadjusted.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1987Date of Patent: May 9, 1989Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Takashi Oyagi, Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 4804955Abstract: A selective calling radio pager comprising a circuit that receives a calling address signal transmitted on a radio channel and generates a flashing signal in response to the calling address signal. A control circuit is provided for writing the received calling address signal into a memory in response to the receiving circuit and reading the calling address signal from the memory in response to a manual command signal. The pager is provided with a light-emitting diode which is responsive to the flashing signal and the calling address signal read out of the memory for supplying an optical signal to an external device. The external device is provided with a photodetector for converting the optical signal to a corresponding electrical signal and a second light-emitting diode responsive to an output signal from the photodetector for giving visual alarm indication when the pager is placed on the external device.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1987Date of Patent: February 14, 1989Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Shigeo Yoshizawa

Patent number: 4800338Abstract: An FM demodulator having improved demodulation sensitivity, and suitable for monolithic integration. As demonstrated in various embodiments, increased sensitivity is made possible= by narrowing the demodulation band on a low frequency side. According to the various embodiments, a monostable multivibrator or first pulse generator receives an input signal and provides an output having first and second states having a combined duration equal to one period of the input signal, or alternatively equal to one-half period of the input signal. A second pulse generator, responsive to the output of the first pulse generator, generates another output having third and fourth states whose combined duration is the same as the combined duration of the first and second states. Demodulation is accomplished finally through a low-pass filter, which integrates the output of the second pulse generator.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1987Date of Patent: January 24, 1989Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Shigeo Yoshizawa, Eiichi Ishii
