  • Patent number: 7118182
Abstract: A drive-wheel axle unit which prevents the mutual contact portion between a caulk portion (29a) of a hub (6a) and an outer-end face (39) of a housing portion (11) of a drive shaft member (31) from being exhausted, thereby preventing the occurrence of shaky motion, strange sounds and vibrations for a long period of time. A flat surface (38) is formed in the end face of the caulk portion (29a), and is contacted over a large area with the outer end face (39), which makes it possible to reduce the contact surface pressure in the mutual contact portion between the flat surface (38) and outer end face (39).

  • Publication number: 20030155803
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide an axle unit for driving wheel which can keep the mutual contact portion between the caulk portion (29a) of a hub (6a) and the outer end face (39) of the housing portion (11) of a drive shaft member (31) from being exhausted to thereby be able to prevent occurrence of shaky motion, strange sounds and vibrations in the axle unit for driving wheel for a long period of time. In the present axle unit for driving wheel, a flat surface (38) is formed in the end face of the caulk portion (29a), and the flat surface (38) is contacted with the outer end face (39) in a large area, which makes it possible to reduce the contact surface pressure in the mutual contact portion between the flat surface (38) and outer end face (39).

  • Patent number: 6488589
Abstract: A wheel-drive apparatus for an automobile is provided to have an outer race fixedly connected to a suspension, a wheel-support hub having a first spline hole, an inner race fixedly fitted onto the hub, rolling members rotatable between the outer ring raceways of the outer race and the inner ring raceways of the hub and inner race, a drive shaft member having an outside end to be a spline shaft for engagement with the first spline hole and an inside end formed to be an outer ring for a constant velocity joint. A stop ring is engaged with the spline shaft and the hub to prevent the spline shaft from coming away from the spline hole. An inner ring for the constant velocity joint has a second spline hole, and balls are provided between the outside engaging groove of the outer ring and the inside engaging groove of the inner ring.

  • Patent number: 6478683
Abstract: A constant velocity joint having an inner race, an outer race provided along a periphery of the inner race, a cage sandwiched in between the inner race, the outer race, and balls. A crossing angle between a central axis of the inner race and a central axis of the outer race is bisected, and the balls are disposed within a bisection plane orthogonal to a plane including these two central axes. If a ratio tc/Da is set to rt, there is satisfied a relationship such as: (0.054/rt)·Da≦w≦(0.16/rt)·Da where Da is the major diameter of each ball, w is the circumference-directional width of each of the column members existing between the pockets adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction with respect to the cage, and tc is the diameter-directional thickness of each of the column members of the cage.

  • Patent number: 5038628
Abstract: A synchronizer ring for a synchronous meshing type speed change gear has a substantially conical surface and is provided with a wet frictional material which covers a major portion of the conical surface axial length, having a small diameter end spaced from the small diameter end of the conical surface. The frictional material has at least one continuous groove formed on its frictional surface and communicating with opposite ends of the synchronizer ring for conducting a flow of lubricating oil, the groove being formed at a predetermined angle relative to the generatrix of the synchronizer ring. The ring is constructed such that upon frictional engagement with the speed change gear, the small diameter end of the conical surface projects axially outwardly from a corresponding end of a frictional engaging surface of the speed change gear by a predetermined amount, so as to facilitate receipt of oil into the groove.
