  • Publication number: 20050219965
Abstract: A record medium reproduction unit has a main casing, a transfer device, a pair of sensing pins, a sensing device, and a decision device. The transfer device transfers a larger disk record medium and a smaller disk record medium into and out of the main casing. The sensing pins are movable toward and away from each other and each contact an outer edge of the larger disk record medium when the larger disk record medium enters the main casing. The decision device determines which is inserted into the main casing, the larger disk record medium, the smaller disk record medium, or a special form record medium such as a card-shaped CD based on information supplied from the pair of sensing pins.

  • Patent number: 6639354
Abstract: An n-type cladding layer formed of a non-single crystal body of n-type AlGaN, a light emitting layer containing a plurality of micro-crystals made from ZnO, and a p-type cladding layer formed of a non-single crystal body of p-type BN are sequentially stacked on a substrate made from quartz glass. An insulating layer is formed between the n-type cladding layer and the p-type cladding layer in such a manner as to bury spaces between the micro-crystals, to thereby prevent occurrence of leakage current. The insulating layer is formed by oxidizing the surface of the n-type cladding layer. Since the light emitting layer contains the plurality of micro-crystals improved in crystallinity, it is possible to enhance the emission efficiency, to extend the selection range of each of materials for forming the light emitting layer, n-type cladding layer, p-type cladding layer, and substrate, and to form a device array on a common substrate having a large area.

  • Publication number: 20030038757
Abstract: A plasma display apparatus according to the present invention includes a dischargeable gas sealed between a pair of substrates joined to each other. A first electrode Y and a second electrode X are formed on one substrate in correspondence with each scanning line. A third electrode H is formed on the other substrate in correspondence with each data line. The first electrode Y, the second electrode X, and the third electrode H are driven to sequentially write data at an intersection of each scanning line and each data line and retain the data at the intersection, and thereby display one field of image. Waveforms of driving signals applied to the first electrode Y and the second electrode X are interchanged between fields or within a field, and thereby alternating-current driving is performed. Thus, damage to a dielectric covering the electrodes and a protective film on the dielectric is minimized, whereby decrease in reliability can be prevented.
