  • Patent number: 4953226
Abstract: An electronic apparatus with pattern recognition function is disclosed. This apparatus has one key pad used for inputting both command data for giving instruction for controlling the apparatus and hand-writing data to be pattern-recognized. The input data are processed depending on which area of the key pad they have been input in. A CPU is also included for deciding how to process the input data. An operator can input both handwriting data and command data from one single key pad and thus troublesome operations, such as inputting handwriting data from a key pad and also inputting command data from a key board, can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4364168
Abstract: A pair of substrates each provided with an electrode film are adhered to each other at their peripheral portions through a sealing material to form an envelope. A liquid crystal material is injected into the envelope from a liquid crystal material injection port which is provided in a localized part of the sealing material. Then, the envelope is heated to a temperature higher than the normal room temperature, and a photosensitive curing adhesive is applied to the injection port while maintaining the envelope at the elevated temperature. After the application of the adhesive, the envelope is cooled to a temperature in the vicinity of the normal room temperature. Subsequently, the adhesive is hardened through irradiation of light at a temperature in the vicinity of the normal room temperature to hermetically seal the injection port, thereby finishing a liquid crystal display cell.

  • Patent number: 4295711
Abstract: In order to provide a good connection to external circuitry for a liquid crystal display device, electrode terminals provided on a substrate of the device are connected to lead terminals formed on a flexible sheet in alignment with the arrangement of the electode terminals through an elongated planar hot-melt binder layer. Electrically conductive islands penetrating through the thickness of the binder layer are formed to be in alignment with the electrode terminals. Thus, in such a structure, good connection is attained between the display device and an external circuit through the lead terminals.
