  • Publication number: 20040025674
Abstract: An automatic player piano is broken down into an acoustic piano and an automatic playing system, and solenoid-operated key actuators are driven to rotate the black/white keys of the acoustic piano; the space between the keyboard and the array of black/white keys is so narrow that the manufacturer provides the solenoid-operated key actuators in the space below the key bed; plunger holes are formed in the rear portion of the key bed, and the solenoids occupy the space under the key bed so that the plungers project through the plunger holes into the space beneath the rear portions of the keys; the key bed is does not lose the mechanical strength so that the tuning work is not frequently required for the key action units.

  • Publication number: 20030230188
Abstract: There is provided a performance apparatus that can reduce energy consumption while allowing sounding elements to appropriately generate sound. A CPU supplies driving energy to an actuator to drivingly control the same based on pulse width modulation. A rotary pick is rotatively driven by the actuator to pluck reeds to generate sound. The CPU sets the duty of a driving pulse for driving the rotary pick during time points t3 and t4. Thus, higher driving energy is supplied to the actuator in timing in which the rotary pick plucks any of the reeds than in timing in which the rotary pick does not pluck any of the reeds.

  • Publication number: 20030202754
Abstract: An optical sensor array includes light-emitting devices and sensor heads remote from the light-emitting devices, and each light-emitting device is optically coupled to plural sensor heads through optical fibers; the light-emitting device is optically connected to the optical fibers by means of a multicore optical fiber connector, and the multicore optical fiber connector keeps the optical axes of the optical fibers equally spaced from the optical axis of the light-emitting device; even though the light intensity is isotropically dispersed on the cross section of the light beam, the total amount of light incident on each optical fiber is equal to the total amount of light incident on any one of the other optical fibers so that a strict calibration is not required for the optical sensor array.

  • Publication number: 20030183063
Abstract: Each of a plurality of TG (tone generation) units includes a plurality of TG elements corresponding to a plurality of tone pitches. A plurality of resonant boxes are provided in corresponding relation to the TG units, and each box is formed of a material having a characteristic different from the materials forming the other boxes. One or more of the TG elements to be driven for tone generation are determined on the basis of tone pitch designating information and tone color setting information, and the determined TG elements are driven to vibrate. Because the resonant boxes are formed of different materials, tones can be generated with peculiar tone colors in accordance with the materials of the resonant boxes corresponding to the vibrated TG elements. In an alternative, the TG elements in each of the TG units may be formed of a material of a characteristic different from materials forming the TG elements of the other TG units.

  • Publication number: 20030177889
Abstract: A real-play sound provider is connected with a communication terminal via a network. The user operates the communication terminal to transmit musical tone files, which include tone pitches and tone-generation timings of designated musical tones, to the real-play sound provider, so that the real-play sound provider controls a prescribed musical instrument to play automatic performance based on musical tone files, thus creating real-play sound files. The real-play sound files are created in accordance with prescribed conditions suiting user's preferences and are stored in a storage device of the real-play sound provider. Then, the real-play sound files are transmitted to the communication terminal upon user's designation of an address (e.g., URL) as necessary. Thus, the communication terminal controls a sound reproduction unit to reproduce sounds of the prescribed musical instrument, which is not possessed and played by the user.

  • Publication number: 20030167905
Abstract: A music box includes daisy reed wheels, the reeds of which are respectively associated with player's fingers, and the player's fingers are selectively energized for plucking the reeds for generating tones; the reeds of the daisy reed wheels form reed groups respectively assigned to tones, and a controller selects reeds from the reed groups in such a manner that any one of the reeds of each group is not plucked with the player's finger, whereby the controller prevents the vibrating reeds from the plucking.
