  • Publication number: 20040198583
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sole-covering agent for use in a carbonization chamber of a coke oven wherein the agent includes a refractory material having an average particle diameter of 10 &mgr;m or less and a melting point higher than a wall surface temperature of a carbonization chamber during operation and an organic binder and the agent has an average particle diameter in the range of from 0.3 to 10 mm, and a method of manufacturing the same. Furthermore, a method of applying the sole-covering agent to a coke oven is also provided. According to the invention, a load generated after coating of a high temperature refractory material for use in a carbonization chamber of an oven wall and applied on a coke pushing machine can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20040079925
Abstract: A fuel additive is directed to preventing slagging, a phenomenon caused by the ash in a fuel particularly during the combustion of a fuel having such a large ash content as is typically found in coal or oil coke, for example. It is formed of a composition having one or more compounds selected from among aluminum compounds, silica compounds, titanium compounds and zirconium compounds invariably of the form of ultrafine particles having a particle diameter in the range of 3 to 200 nm and no less than 2 wt. % of an alkali metal (R═Na or K) compound as reduced to the R2O concentration dispersed in a stable state in water and/or oil. When a liquid fuel oil and/or a solid fuel is made to incorporate the fuel additive therein and then subjected to combustion, the deposited ash can be easily peeled and shed from the surface of the furnace wall or the water pipes.

  • Patent number: 6165923
Abstract: The present invention provides a coating layer of the coke oven having a high strength, high impact resistance and excellent smoothness to enable long term protection of the fire brick of the coke oven. Carbon adhered to the brick can be removed by spraying a coating agent with a glaze layer mainly composed of 18 to 70% by weight of SiO.sub.2 and 10 to 60% by weight of Na.sub.2 O and/or K.sub.2 O and containing one or a plurality of 2 to 14% by weight of P.sub.2 O.sub.5, 0.5 to 25% by weight of BaO, 0.5 to 25% by weight of SrO and 0.5 to 20% by weight of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 onto the surface of a high temperature firebrick, thereby obtaining an excellent coating layer.

  • Patent number: 6156688
Abstract: A repairing material for the bricks of the carbonizing chamber in a coke oven is obtained by compounding mortar as a main component with a powder comprising 70-100 wt. % of a Co compound, Ni compound, and/or Al compound and 0-30 wt. % of at least one compound selected from among the compounds of Ca, Mg, Zn, Sr, Ba, Fe, V, Pb, Cu, and Ti, and a liquid formed of water, B, P, and at least one member selected from among Si, Na, and K. A method for repairing includes hot applying the repairing material to portions of the bricks of the carbonizing chamber in the coke oven which are in need of repair.
