  • Patent number: 4801191
Abstract: A connecting section for optical fiber cables which has multicore connectors respectively mounted simultaneously on a plurality of optical fiber core wires led from the end of the cable sheath of one optical fiber cable and on a plurality of optical fiber core wires led from the end of the cable sheath of the other optical fiber cable, housings respectively projected toward the ends of the cable sheaths and mounted on the outer peripheral surfaces of the ends of the cable sheaths for containing the optical fiber core wires with the multicore connectors and a spring for applying a force for butting the optical fiber core wires to the multicore connectors to hold the connectors in the ends of the housings so that the connecting ends of the multicore connectors are opposed in such a manner that the optical fiber core wires are simultaneously optically connected and that the housings are connected through an adapter formed over the outer peripheral surfaces of the ends thereof and fittings for securing the outer

  • Patent number: 4790648
Abstract: A closure for a cable connector covered at the ends of the cables connected to each other in a sleeve through end face plates for closing both ends of the sleeve. Grasping fittings are mounted at the ends of the cable contained in the sleeve which has axial restricting means and/or rotational restricting means provided in the sleeve for preventing the grasping fittings from moving axially and/or rotationally. Thus, the closure can provide mechanical strength sufficient for enduring loads such as tension, compression and twist transmitted through the cables.

  • Patent number: 4345112
Abstract: This invention relates to a high strength cable to electrically and mechaally connect a vessel or a base on the sea with submarine instruments. Such a cable is required to transfer a signal or electric power and to positively transfer to a tension member in the cable a drawing force which is applied to an outer sheath from a capstan when the cable is wound up or drawn out by the capstan. This invention has a feature in that layers 6A, 6B, 6C and 6D of lapping tape having a high friction coefficient such as rubber coated tape are provided between a tension member 7 and an outer sheath 8. This feature prevents a displacement between the tension member 7 and the outer sheath 8.
