  • Patent number: 4385339
Abstract: A method of driving a valve in an injector for an internal combustion engine which intermittently injects liquid fuel by the valve reciprocally moving by attraction force of a solenoid coil and repulsive force of a spring and an apparatus for carrying out the method. An armature secured to the valve to be attracted by the solenoid coil and/or an iron core of the solenoid coil is made of a permanent magnet. The pulse shape of an electric current to be applied to the solenoid coil is made in the form of a stepped wave in which the electric power in the initial stage of application is larger than that in the later stage. An inverse pulse for inversely exciting the solenoid coil is formed to give the permanent magnet of the armature repulsive force upon fall of the pulse wave of the electric current applied to the solenoid coil.

  • Patent number: 4314535
Abstract: A feedback type variable venturi carburetor in which the negative pressure regulated by the variable venturi at a constant level is supplied to a solenoid valve which is opened and closed at a frequency of 5-30 Hz and whose open-close time ratio is controlled in accordance with the signal from exhaust gas sensor to control the vacuum pressure applied to a diaphragm chamber of an air-bleed flow control means thereby controlling the air-fuel ratio of the mixture at an optimum level. This invention obviates the use of a regulator for regulating the negative pressure from the intake manifold and precludes the drawbacks experienced with conventional carburetors, such as the slow response in the feedback control caused when the main fuel system and the idling system of the conventional carburetor are switched over, and the unstable supply of fuel when the fuel begins to be delivered from the main fuel system.

  • Patent number: 4300505
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control device capable of accurately controlling the air-fuel ratio of the mixture to be supplied to the engine, without being affected by the external conditions such as the atmospheric pressure and the temperature of the air drawn into the engine. The control signal of the air-fuel ratio control device contains a sensitivity component whose magnitude varies in proportion to a time of duration for which the "rich" or "lean" input signal has continued, so that the air-fuel ratio of the mixture can be properly controlled for all engine running conditions, i.e., either when the engine is running under a light load condition or under a heavy load condition.

  • Patent number: 4290399
Abstract: A floatless variable venturi type carburetor in which the float chamber is substituted by a fuel pressure regulator. The carburetor has, in addition to the ordinary constituents such as variable orifice, fuel metering jet and air bleed, a fuel valve disposed in the fuel passage leading to the fuel metering jet and adapted to be opened and closed in relation to the turning on and off of the engine key switch, and a fuel pressure regulator adapted to regulate the pressure of the fuel introduced to the fuel metering jet through the fuel valve. The fuel pressure regulator has two regulating chambers, one of which being communicated with the inlet side of the fuel valve while the other being in communication with a venturi vacuum pickup port, so that the fuel pressure regulator maintains a constant pressure differential, by the action of a diaphragm separating two regulating chambers, between the fuel pressure at the inlet side of the fuel metering jet and the venturi vacuum.

  • Patent number: 4289104
Abstract: An air-fuel mixture supplying device for internal combustion engines, in which sonic nozzles are disposed facing each other in such a manner that their center lines lie in the same horizontal and vertical planes so that the fuel ejected from the nozzle is pulverized and mixed with bleed air ejected from the opposing nozzle in optimum condition. During intermittent ejection of fuel, two injector valves inject fuel alternately so that the fuel particles ejected from the opposing nozzles do not collide with each other but only strike against and mix with the bleed air. This eliminates the possibility of fuel particles becoming agglomerated and produces desirable air-fuel mixtures.

  • Patent number: 4287864
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control device characterized by the fact that an electromagnetic valve which controls the air bleed quantities for both high- and low-speed fuel systems simultaneously has a pin inserted in a valve disc so as to prevent the rotation of the valve disc but allow it to move axially for open-close operation, so that the valve disc and the seat always contact at the same contacting portion and maintain a perfect seal therebetween. This enables an accurate control of the air bleed quantitiy and therefore of the air-fuel ratio.
