  • Patent number: 6628713
Abstract: The present invention generates coded data having always high image quality irrespective of the change amount of a picture. When a difference between two adjacent frames in inputted picture data is calculated as well as a motion vector between the above frames is calculated, and the picture data is encoded based on the difference and the motion vector between the above frames as well as the motion vector is encoded, a scene change in the above picture data is detected based on the difference between the two adjacent frames in the picture data, and the feature quantity of the picture data is calculated. If the above feature quantity exceeds a prescribed threshold value, the number of pixels of the picture data is reduced in a prescribed conversion ratio at the prescribed timing according to the detected scene change.

  • Patent number: 6480544
Abstract: In an encoding apparatus for processing a video signal with a signal processing circuit, producing coefficient data by an orthogonal transform of differential data obtained by motion compensation, generating coded data by quantization of the coefficient data and converting the quantization step size at the time of the quantization according to the amount of generated data of the coded data, the signal processing circuit includes: a motion vector detecting circuit for detecting a motion vector of the video signal; a motion code vector amount detecting circuit for calculating the code amount of the motion vector on the basis of the motion vector and for detecting the amount of code of the coefficient data; and a pixel number converting circuit for converting the number of pixels of the video signal according to the amount of code of the motion vector and the amount of code of the coefficient data.

  • Patent number: 5537107
Abstract: A remote control unit for an external video apparatus such as a video camera and a VTR includes an infrared signal receiving section for receiving a video signal as a infrared signal from the video apparatus. A video image depending upon the video signal is displayed on a LCD display together with display information necessary for a remote control in a LCD display. An operator can easily carry out the necessary remote control operation through a key matrix, confirming the result of the operation upon reviewing the video image in the LCD display. The operator's key matrix operation is put into a microcomputer which, in turn, produces a control information for the video apparatus and transmits it to the video apparatus through an encoder and an infrared signal transmitting section. The above-mentioned display information is produced by the microcomputer and input through a character generator to the LCD display.

  • Patent number: 5475447
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for adjusting a video display, device with no need to determine precisely the positional relationship between an image producing element and the video display area of a projector or monitor while the latter device is being adjusted for video display by detecting beam positions. The entire video display area is detected by a image input. Camera and the video display area information thus obtained is represented by the coordinates, in a memory, of four points enclosing the area. The memory coordinates of the first points to be obtained based on a reference image are calculated from the coordinates of these four points. The coordinates of the first points are compared with those of the second points determined with respect to the reference image. The result is used to operate a system controller for adjustment and control of the video display device.

  • Patent number: 5287173
Abstract: A system for adjusting the white balance of a projector type color display device is shown. The color display device includes three single color cathode ray tubes from which single color beams are projected onto a screen to form a colored image on the screen. The white balance adjusting system comprises a first device for feeding one of the three cathode ray tubes with all white signal to cause the same to project a single color image on the screen; a second device for detecting a luminance value of the single color image on the screen; a third device for deriving luminance values of the other single color images from the detected luminance value; and a fourth device for controlling the selected cathode ray tube in such a manner that the derived luminance values are put in a tolerance which is provided for dealing with a noise of the second device.

  • Patent number: 4958156
Abstract: An A/D (analog-to-digital) converter circuit that controls a frequency characteristic of an input video signal in response to a sampling signal of a variable frequency to reduce distortions such as a folded distortion and so on caused by the A/D conversion.
