  • Patent number: 5197300
Abstract: An auger type icemaker including an evaporator housing having a cylindrical inner freezing surface on which ice crystals may form, an auger mounted for rotary movement within the housing to be driven to scrape ice crystals off the freezing surface and to advance the scraped ice crystals toward an upper end portion of the housing, an extrusion head formed with a plurality of ice extruding passages and axially slidably coupled within an annular space between the upper end portion of the housing and an upper shaft portion of the auger, wherein a screw is threaded into the upper end portion of the housing and engaged with an axial key-groove of the extrusion head to restrict rotary movement of the extrusion head, and a cam mechanism mounted on the upper shaft portion of the auger to effect axial movement of the extrusion head in accordance with rotary movement of the auger and to restrict upward movement of the extrusion head at an upper dead point thereof.

  • Patent number: 5189891
Abstract: In an auger type ice making machine having an upright evaporator housing the internal wall of which is formed with a cylindrical freezing surface, and an auger mounted for rotary movement within the evaporator housing to scrape ice crystals off the freezing surface and to advance the scraped ice crystals toward an upper end of the housing, an extruding head assembly mounted on the upper end of the evaporator housing includes a cylindrical head member coaxially coupled with the upper end of the evaporator housing, the head member having an internal cylindrical wall formed with a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced radial projections forming a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced compression chambers to which the scraped ice crystals are successively introduced under the action of the auger, and a thrust mechanism mounted on an upper end of the auger to compress radially outwardly the ice crystals introduced into the compression chambers in accordance with rotation of the auger.

  • Patent number: 4321802
Abstract: A refrigeration apparatus which produces ice and pure water obtained by thawing the ice, and having a refrigeration compartment for foods and beverages which is cooled indirectly by the low temperature of the ice and pure water. Ice produced by an ice-making unit is allowed to fall on the refrigeration compartment which is partially surrounded by a storage tank for collecting pure water obtained when the fallen ice is thawed by heat exchange with the refrigeration compartment. Foods cooled indirectly by the ice and cold pure water are prevented from drying and excessive cooling.

  • Patent number: 4262489
Abstract: A process comprises steps of circulating raw water into an ice making mechanism for freezing the water into the ice, harvesting with wash the formed ice and transferring the ice to a receptacle having a heating means for entirely or partially melting the ice to obtain pure water and catalyzing the resulting pure water with a selected nutritious substance before, during or after storing of the pure water. The apparatus is also provided.
