  • Publication number: 20080239013
Abstract: A liquid discharging head includes a head chip including a plurality of energy generating elements configured to discharge liquid, and liquid chambers provided around the energy generating elements, and a common passage member configured to define a common passage communicating with all the liquid chambers. Liquid is discharged from the liquid chambers by driving the energy generating elements so as to apply a discharging force to the liquid. N-number of common passage members (N?2) are provided, and each includes an inlet for supplying the liquid to the common passage and an outlet for ejecting the liquid from the common passage. The inlet of the first common passage member is connected to a liquid supply member. The inlet of the N-th common passage member is connected to the liquid supply member via an opening-closing valve and to the outlet of the (N-1)-th common passage member.

  • Patent number: 7427127
Abstract: A negative pressure generated inside a liquid-ejecting head can circulate liquid between the liquid-ejecting head and a liquid tank, prevent the liquid from leaking out of nozzles while the liquid is circulating, and remove bubbles contained in the liquid. A head cartridge includes a printhead ejecting ink from ink-ejecting nozzles formed in a nozzle plate of the printhead, an ink-supplying conduit supplying the ink from an ink tank to an ink chamber in the printhead, an ink-refluxing conduit refluxing the ink from the printhead to the ink tank, and a liquid-delivering pump disposed on the ink-refluxing conduit and circulating the ink between the printhead and the ink tank. The liquid-delivering pump is driven to generate a negative pressure inside the printhead to circulate the ink between the printhead and the ink tank.

  • Patent number: 7334863
Abstract: A liquid ejection head including a reusable nozzle cap and head cap unit that prevents ink from leaking during transport and storage. When the liquid ejection head is in use, the nozzle cap can be readily detached from the liquid ejection head without damaging an ejection surface of a nozzle sheet from which ink is ejected. The liquid ejection head can also be used with a large nozzle sheet. The nozzle cap is incorporated in the liquid ejection head that ejects ink in an ink reservoir through nozzles in the nozzle sheet. Stoppers are disposed below the ejection surface of the nozzle sheet to cover the nozzles, thereby preventing ink from leaking. The stoppers are composed of a resilient material that does not adhere to the nozzle sheet and that inhibits ink from passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 7334885
Abstract: A distribution container containing storage liquid is mounted in a cartridge holding section of a line head to substitute for an ink cartridge during transportation and storage of the line head. The storage liquid prevents air from flowing into the line head through nozzles, and thereby avoids discharging failure, for example, no discharging or insufficient discharging of ink.

  • Patent number: 7156486
Abstract: A line head includes a nozzle plate, a frame-shaped outer frame, a plurality of head chips, and a head support member arranged within the outer frame. The linear expansion coefficients of the nozzle plate and the head support member are larger than that of the outer frame. The nozzle plate is joined onto the outer frame and a tensile stress is produced in the nozzle plate by the outer frame. The head support member is joined and fitted with the outer frame. When the head support member thermally expands relative to the outer frame, a compression stress is produced in the head support member while a strain of the head support member is restricted by the outer frame.
