    Abstract: A method for the manufacture of an oxydicarboxylic acid salt which comprises subjecting to dehydrogenation an polyethylene glycol represented by the general formula I:HO--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O.sub.n H (I)wherein n is 2 to 14, in the presence of the hydroxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline earth meatals, water and a catalyst containing copper and zirconium compound.
