  • Patent number: 5372483
Abstract: An axial multi-piston type compressor includes: a drive shaft; a cylinder block having cylinder bores surrounding the shaft, a central circular space, and respective radial passages for communicating the bores with the space; pistons slidably received in the respective bores, and a housing associated with the block to define a crank chamber. The pistons are successively reciprocated in the bores by a rotation of the shaft so that a suction stroke and a discharge stroke are alternately executed in each bore. A suction rotary valve is rotationally and slidably received in the space to be cooperated with the passages for successively introducing a fluid into the bores subjected to the suction stroke, through the corresponding passages thereof, and for successively closing the passages of the bores subjected to the compression stroke.

  • Patent number: 5370505
Abstract: An axial multi-piston compressor having a drive shaft which rotates and a cylinder block having a multiplicity of cylinder bores and pistons within the cylinder bores. The cylinder block is associated with a crank chamber containing the fluid to be compressed and a lubricating oil mist. The peripheral wall of the crank chamber having a groove on the peripheral surface which groove collects oil and directs the oil to the shaft seal. The groove is partially curved in a direction counter to the direction of rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5368449
Abstract: A plurality of pistons are provided in the associated cylinder bores arranged around the rotary shaft. Each piston reciprocates in relation to the rotation of the rotary shaft to execute suction, compression and discharge of the refrigerant gas. A valve chamber is disposed in the vicinity of the cylinder bore. A plurality of ports are arranged to communicate the valve chamber to the associated cylinder bores. The valve chamber has a rotary valve which rotates in relation to the reciprocating motion of the pistons. A suction passage is formed in the rotary valve to be sequentially communicated with each port in synchronism with the rotation of the rotary valve in order to introduce the refrigerant gas into each cylinder bore. A seal zone is included in the rotary valve, which sequentially blocks each port in synchronism with the rotation of the rotary valve. A groove is defined in the rotary valve, which is capable of guiding the refrigerant gas entering between the valve chamber and the rotary valve.

  • Patent number: 5342178
Abstract: A coolant gas guiding mechanism in a compressor is disclosed. A plurality of pistons reciprocate within corresponding cylinder bores that are formed around the rotary shaft, inside a casing. Each piston defines a working chamber in the corresponding cylinder bore. A rotary valve is provided coaxially with a rotary shaft. The rotary shaft has a suction chamber, an inlet through which the coolant gas is sucked in from external coolant circuit, and an outlet which communicates with a selected one of the working chambers in synchrony with the reciprocating movement of the piston, for supplying the coolant gas to the working chamber.

  • Patent number: 5304042
Abstract: A plurality of pistons of a variable displacement compressor are reciprocatably disposed in cylinder bores which are formed in a housing. A drive shaft is rotatably supported in the housing. A lug plate is rotatable with the drive shaft. A swash plate is tiltably and slidably mounted on the drive shaft. The swash plate is operatively coupled with the pistons. A hinge mechanism connects the lug plate and the swash plate. The hinge mechanism causes the pistons to reciprocate via the lug plate and the swash plate, in response to the rotational motion of the drive shaft. The hinge mechanism includes a pin, which has a first and a second end portions. The first end portion of the pin is slidably inserted into the swash plate. A support arm protrudes from the lug plate, and further includes a bush. The bush rotatably supports the second end portion of the pin.

  • Patent number: 5286173
Abstract: The housing of a swash plate type compressor includes a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A plurality of cylinder bores are formed in a cylinder block connected to the housing. A plurality of pistons in corresponding cylinder bores are provided such that each piston reciprocates as a function of the rotation of a rotary shaft. A valve chamber communicates with at least one of the suction chamber and discharge chamber, and is provided between the housing and the cylinder block. The valve chamber is connected to the cylinder bores via respective passages. A rotary valve is accommodated rotatably in the valve chamber. A guide groove is provided in the outer surface of the rotary valve to permit communication between each cylinder bore and the associated passage in at least one of a suction stage and a compression stage of the coolant gas.
