  • Patent number: 7157847
Abstract: A self-luminescence display device, in which dispersion in display among a plurality of pixels, caused by dispersion in characteristics among drive thin-film transistors, is decreased and uniform display free of unevenness can be obtained. The device includes a plurality of pixels having current drive type luminescent elements, and parallel-connected n (n?2) thin-film transistors to feed a drive current to the respective current drive type luminescent elements. The transistors are arranged in different pixels, respectively, for example, in a first region of pixels adjacent to one another along a first direction. A second region of dummy pixels can be provided on at least one side of said first region along said first direction.

  • Publication number: 20060284184
Abstract: The irregularities of characteristics of a pair of transistors, which are prepared by a pseudo single crystallizing technique, are reduced. To achieve this, semiconductor layers are formed on a substrate and have pseudo single crystal regions therein, and a plurality of thin film transistors are arranged inside the pseudo single crystal regions. Two or more of the plurality of thin film transistors, which are required to exhibit small irregularities relative to each other as characteristics thereof, have the direction of the length of the gates of the respective thin film transistors arranged at an inclination of within ±20 degree with respect to the longitudinal direction of the strip-like grown crystals, and they are arranged such that, when channel regions of respective thin film transistors are imaginarily extended in parallel to the growth direction of the strip-like grown crystals, at least portions of the channel regions are superposed on each other.

  • Patent number: 7123237
Abstract: The present invention provides a display device which is capable of fetching input signals of a small amplitude into the inside thereof. A level converting circuit includes a first-conductive-type first transistor having a gate electrode to which input signals are applied through a first capacitive element, a second-conductive-type second transistor having a gate electrode to which input signals are applied through a second capacitive element, a first bias circuit which applies a first bias voltage to the gate electrode of the first transistor and a second bias circuit which applies a second bias voltage to the gate electrode of the second transistor. Here, the first bias voltage is a voltage which turns off the first transistor when a voltage applied to the gate electrode of the first transistor assumes a maximum value and the second bias voltage is a voltage which turns off the second transistor when a voltage applied to the gate electrode of the second transistor assumes a minimum value.

  • Patent number: 7071906
Abstract: A display device includes plural red, green, and blue pixels provided with current-driven type red-, green-, and blue-light-emitting elements, respectively. A method of driving the display device includes writing a video signal voltage into each of the pixels in a state in which all the light-emitting elements cease to emit light during a first portion of one frame period at a beginning thereof, and then operating a respective one of the light-emitting elements to emit light during at least one portion of the one frame period succeeding the first portion. Each of the at least one portion of the one frame period is determined by light emission characteristics of the respective one of the light-emitting elements, and also is determined by the video signal voltage of the respective one of the pixels.
