  • Publication number: 20130162604
Abstract: An electromagnetic pen includes a pen core body, an outer cladding surrounding the pen core body, an oscillator circuit and a battery. The outer cladding is made of insulative material. A number of elongated first conductors and a number of elongated second conductors are alternately arranged on a circumferential surface of the outer cladding, and each first conductor is electrically insulated from the corresponding neighboring second conductors. Each first conductor is electrically coupled to the battery, and each second conductor is electrically coupled to the oscillator circuit. When the electromagnetic pen is held by a user, the first conductor is electrically connected to the second conductor via the user's hand, causing the battery to provide voltage to the oscillator circuit, and the oscillator circuit therefore emits electromagnetic signals.

  • Patent number: 8443016
Abstract: A method for approximating an upper bound limit for the absolute value of a complex number or the norm of a two-element vector is disclosed. An upper bound approximation algorithm is used to minimize software implementation efforts and make the hardware implementation less expensive. The hardware implementation of the upper bound approximation algorithm only requires a multiplier element and an adder element. Therefore, this algorithm can be implemented anywhere in a digital signal processing apparatus without increasing cost significantly. Moreover, the hardware employing the present invention can be implemented in a pipeline architecture configuration to achieve a real time function in digital audio or digital video applications.

  • Publication number: 20130099040
Abstract: A grooved incisor blade set for paper shredders is disclosed. A blade includes a crown, a groove juxtaposed with the crown, and a center hole for a cutting arbor, where the crown and the groove define a relief channel. A stair-shaped, U-shaped or V-shaped blade assembly is described. In one embodiment, a notched grooved incisor blade having notches proximate to the central hole comes in contact with a mating grooved incisor blade also having a central hole. Force is applied to the mating blade to displace some of the body of the mating blade into the notches, affixing the blades together. A method for forming shredder cutting blades includes providing a strip of metal, forming a crown in the strip of metal, forming a relief groove juxtaposed to the crown in the strip of metal, thereby forming a relief channel, and trimming the grooved incisor blade of excess metal.

  • Patent number: 8300383
Abstract: A variable capacitor includes: a dielectric sheet disposed on a substrate and covering an electrode pattern on the substrate; a resilient conductive supporting seat mounted on the dielectric sheet for supporting an insulating operating cap on a central portion thereof; a conductive cover body covering the conductive supporting seat and permitting the operating cap to extend outward; and a biasing member for biasing the central portion of the conductive supporting seat to move away from the substrate. The cover body is connected electrically to the conductive supporting seat and a conductive contact on the substrate. When the operating cap is depressed, the operating cap forces a contact portion of the conductive supporting seat to deform such that a surface area of the deformed contact portion that contacts the dielectric sheet is increased, thereby changing the capacitance between the conductive supporting seat and the electrode pattern.

The system has a touch detection circuit unit, which contains a bioelectricity controlled switching circuit to sense the conductive touch panel. The bioelectricity controlled switching circuit is configured to trigger a ground switching circuit in the touch detection circuit unit which outputs to a multifunction control circuit unit. The control circuit unit then takes care of the remaining protection issues. The touching device for paper shredders protects humans and other living beings including pets from injuries through automatic and real time monitoring. The complete control process is both safe and sensitive.

  • Patent number: 7800578
Abstract: A method for driving a light source first sets a frame time and a unit time, and calculates the number of the unit time that the frame time can contain. Based on the turned-on duration (DTi) of a light-emitting device of the light source and the unit time, the turned-on numbers (Ni) and the compensation times (CTI) of the light-emitting devices are calculated. The light-emitting device is driven to emit a light beam according to the turned-on numbers (Ni) and the compensation times (CTI). The present driving method can be applied to light source and backing light source of liquid crystal displays.

  • Patent number: 7787549
Abstract: An impulsive noise suppresser and method thereof is provided. The impulsive noise suppresser includes an automatic gain control unit, variable gain amplification unit, impulsive detection unit and impulsive suppression unit. The automatic gain control unit determines a gain value according to a PAPR. The variable gain amplification unit amplifies a reception signal by the gain value. The gain value is determined such that the amplified reception signal as unaffected by the impulsive noise can have an amplitude range smaller than a predetermined range. The impulsive detection unit is coupled to the variable gain amplification unit for determining whether the amplified reception signal is larger than a maximum value of the predetermined range and outputting an impulsive alarm signal if the reception signal is larger than the maximum value. The impulsive suppression unit suppresses the impulsive noise as receiving the impulsive alarm signal, and then outputs an output signal.
