Abstract: Exemplary embodiments disclose a computer-implemented method for enabling an end-user to dynamically create a hot spot on a user interface (UI) of information resource without the end-user modifying underlying code of the UI. Aspects of the exemplary embodiment include responsive to the end-user activating a hot spot creation component, receiving a designation from the end-user of a location of the hot spot and a size of the hot spot within the UI; receiving from the end-user an assignment of a user gesture to the hot spot; receiving from the end-user an assignment of an action to the hot spot; and responsive to a detection of the user gesture on the hot spot, invoking the action assigned to the hot spot.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to content formatting for Web distributed content and provide a method, system and computer program product for content personalization for Web distributed content. In an embodiment of the invention, a content customization method can be provided. The method can include selecting content in a retrieved page, retrieving an applied customization from a source separate from a source of the retrieved page, applying the applied customization to the selected content to modify a visual appearance of the selected content, and providing the selected content once modified for display in a content browser.

Abstract: An upgrade of an application product is installed to a first location in a shared environment that is different than a second location in the shared environment. An indication of the newer version of the application product and an indication of the first location are recorded in a registry that comprises indications of a plurality of application products and locations corresponding thereto. Metadata and binding information are obtained from an instance of the previous version of the application product while the instance of the previous version of the application product continues running. The metadata and the binding information are instantiated for an instance of the newer version of the application product in execution space thereof. Work is diverted work from the instance of the previous version of the application product to the instance of the newer version of the application product while both instances continue running in the shared environment.

Abstract: A computer-implementable method enables a user to customize navigation of User Interface (UI) resources that are displayed on a computer User Interface (UI). A computer receives, from a user, an input of user-created metadata. This user-created metadata is associated with one or more UI resources that are depicted on a UI. In response to a user inputting specific metadata, the computer retrieves one or more UI resources that are associated with the specific metadata that has been input by the user. These retrieved one or more UI resources are displayed on the UI.

Abstract: A customized user interface is configured to include one or more user interface gadgets provided by one or more user interface gadget providers. Multiple possible user interface gadgets are identified for inclusion in the user interface by comparing a set of required attributes for the user interface to stored attribute data for a plurality of registered user interface gadgets. One or more of the possible user interface gadgets is selected for inclusion in the user interface using stored evaluation data for the possible user interface gadgets. Data related to the selected user interface gadget(s) is provided for use in generating the customized user interface on a computer system.

In preferred embodiments, portal technology is used for the aggregation framework, and portlets are used for creating content. Alternatively, other approaches such as struts and tiles may be used. Preferred embodiments deploy an administration console as a Web-accessible application, and this console consolidates the administration interfaces for an arbitrary set of management operations, including administration of an arbitrary collection of hardware and/or software resources. Roles/permissions may be used when rendering content for the console, thereby customizing a view to individual end users (or user groups).

The method can include obtaining at least two separate help documents. Each of the separate help documents can have an association with a corresponding one of separate interface units aggregated together into a single aggregated view. Importantly, the separate help documents can be combined into a composition of help documents corresponding to the single aggregated view. Subsequently, the composition of help documents can be rendered in a help system view responsive to a request for help initiated in the single aggregated view.

The system can include an application aggregator configured to aggregate individual applications into a single aggregated view. The system further can include a help system configured to render a help system view having composite help documentation formed from at least two help documents, each of the help documents corresponding to one of the individual applications. Help invoking logic can be coupled to the help system and disposed in the single aggregated view. A search and query tool also can be coupled to the help system through a search and query interface. Finally, an index can be coupled to the search and query tool. The index can include keywords disposed in the help documents and title information for individual applications corresponding to the help documents.

The method receives from the computer an event message that is generated as a response to an action by a user to change an object displayed on the web page. The method creates a dynamic dependency graph having a root node, and child nodes that depend upon the root node, and adds the object that generated the event message, or a reference to the object, to the dependency graph as the root node. In addition, the child nodes may add other child nodes. The method receives context information for other objects displayed on the web page, when a dependency exists between the object and the other objects. The method adds the other objects, or references to the other objects, to the dependency graph as the child nodes.

Abstract: A method for automatically propagating changes in user interaction effects across multiple user interface pages. The method includes selecting a first web based user interface page and activating a user interaction effect. Then producing a user interaction change message which is sent to a server side broker on the framework where it is queued before delivery. Then the user switches to a second web based user interface page with equivalent tasks to the first user interface page where the message may then be delivered to modify the second page to enable the action taken on the first user interface page.
