  • Patent number: 10834640
Abstract: Systems, methods, and processing nodes are related to selective resource allocation in a wireless network. An exemplary method includes determining, at an access node, wireless services utilized by a plurality of wireless devices connected to the access node. The wireless services include a first type of wireless service and a second type of wireless service. The method also includes determining whether a first percentage of the plurality of wireless devices utilizing the first type of wireless service relative to the second type of wireless service is greater than or equal to a service type threshold. The method also includes selecting a dynamic allocation scheme if the first percentage of the plurality of wireless devices utilizing the first type of wireless service relative to the second type of wireless service is greater than or equal to the service type threshold.

  • Patent number: 10405281
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for a dynamic minimum receiver level. A base station can transmit a set of access parameters that enable the mobile device to communicate with the base station. The set of access parameters may comprise a first minimum receiver (RX) level that corresponds to a first standard of qualified communications between the mobile device and the base station utilizing carrier aggregation, and a second minimum RX level that corresponds to a second standard of qualified communications between the mobile device and the base station without utilizing carrier aggregation. The mobile device may be configured to receive the set of access parameters and selectively employ the first minimum RX level so as to communicate with the base station within the qualified coverage area according to the first standard of qualified communications.

  • Patent number: 8713093
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions for managing caches on a gateway are provided. Content received in response to requests for media objects, such as web pages and pictures, are stored on a gateway in either a device-specific cache or a multi-device cache. Objects that are generic are stored in the multi-device cache. A generic object is an object that may be requested by all devices visiting a web page. A device-specific object is tailored to a particular device and may not be requested by multiple devices. Embodiments of the present invention may determine that a particular object is a generic object when a request for it is received from more than one mobile device. The object determined to be generic may then be stored in a multi-device cache.

  • Patent number: 8570967
Abstract: A plurality of candidate access terminals for participation in a multi-user packet-based (MUP-based) communication is determined. Two or more candidate access terminals are grouped into a MUP-based group, the grouping based on a hybrid automatic repeat request behavior of the plurality of candidate access terminals. Data is sent to the MUP-based group using a multi-user packet.

  • Patent number: 8150344
Abstract: A method and system are provided for planning a service provider network. At one or more low-cost Internet base stations (LCIBs) operating within a building, one or more wireless signals are detected. The wireless signals are provided by one or more macro base stations. The wireless signals are detected by the LCIB on an LCIB wireless-communication interface. For each detected wireless signal, one or more signal-strength values are determined. The determined signal-strength values are sent from the LCIB via an LCIB packet-communication interface to one or more network entities. The signal-strength values are used to plan the service provider network, by generating one or more network-planning directions and/or one or more network-coverage maps.
