  • Publication number: 20050176886
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for preparing a copolymer useful for the manufacture of tires by coupling the ends of a living polymer, obtained from copolymerization of a diene monomers in the presence of an organolithium initiator and a hydrocarbon solvent, with a multi-reactive polysiloxane compound, and then completing the reaction or subsequently modifying the remaining uncoupled ends of the polymer with an amine compound. The use of the copolymer thus obtained for tire production improves the affinity to silica and greatly enhances the dynamic properties required for tires, such as wet traction and rolling resistance.

  • Patent number: 6908975
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a high 1,4-cis polybutadiene having a controlled cold flow and, more particularly, to a novel method for preparing a high 1,4-cis polybutadiene having a controlled cold flow that involves initiating polymerization of a 1,3-butadiene in the presence of a non-polar solvent using, as a polymerization catalyst, a complex prepared by mixing a neodymium compound with or without a conjugated diene compound, a halogenated organoaluminum compound or a halogenated organic compound, and an organoaluminum compound irrespective of the addition order of the catalyst; and adding an organoborane compound as a cold flow controller of 1,4-cis polybutadiene after a predetermined time of the polymerization. Accordingly, a high 1,4-cis polybutadiene having an efficiently controlled cold flow can be prepared without causing a significant increase in the Mooney viscosity (molecular weight), an odor (bad smell), and a reduction in 1,4-cis content and polymerization yield.

  • Publication number: 20050012233
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a highly porous ceramic having a high porosity of not less than 60% and a pore density of not less than 108 pores/cm3 fabricated from expandable microspheres and a preceramic polymer, and a method for fabricating highly porous ceramic. The method for fabricating highly porous ceramic from expandable microspheres and a preceramic polymer comprises the steps of: homogeneously mixing a preceramic polymer powder and expandable hollow microspheres, if necessary, a ceramic powder, and molding the mixture to form a molded body; heating the molded body to expand it; curing the expanded molded body; and pyrolyzing the cured molded body. Since the highly porous ceramic has a higher porosity and pore density than conventional porous ceramics, it can be suitably used for various high temperature structure materials, kiln furniture, bulletproof materials, shock-absorbing materials, insulating materials, refractory materials, lightweight structure materials, etc.

  • Patent number: 6349308
Abstract: This invention relates to an inverted index storage structure that indexes keyword inputs into the storage space for the corresponding posting lists. In particular, the invention relates to the index structure that enables fast retrieval of the posting of the specific document from the posting list and enables efficient arrangement and maintenance of the posting list in document identifier (docID) order, so that fast addition, deletion, modification, and retrieval of documents are possible in environments where a database management system is tightly coupled with information retrieval. The technical solution is to store the posting list in a large object and map to each posting list a subindex that indexes the docID into the postings containing the docID.
