  • Patent number: 7399498
Abstract: A transparent vessel is filled with a mixture solution containing a first photo-curable resin of a low refractive index and a second photo-curable resin of a high refractive index different in curing mechanism. When light at a wavelength capable of curing the first photo-curable resin but incapable of curing the second photo-curable resin is applied to the mixture solution through an optical fiber, the first photo-curable resin can be cured in a state in which the second photo-curable resin is enclosed in the cured first photo-curable resin. Because the refractive index increases according to curing, a self-condensing phenomenon can be generated so that an optical path portion is formed. The optical path portion emits leakage light to its surroundings to thereby form an outer circumferential portion. Then, all uncured resins in the mixture solution are cured.

  • Publication number: 20050103761
Abstract: In a contact for a connector, a metal material id processed to be bent in a predetermined shape in a manner so that a terminal portion is formed in the vicinity of an end and a contacting portion is formed in the vicinity of the other end. A nickel plating layer as a foundation plating layer and a gold plating layer are formed on substantially entire surface of the contact including the terminal portion and the contacting portion. Laser beams are irradiated at a portion between the terminal portion and the contacting portion, and especially in the vicinity of the terminal portion so that the nickel plating layer as the foundation plating layer is unsheathed by removing the gold plating layer or gold in the gold plating layer and nickel in the foundation layer are alloyed. Nickel and the alloy of nickel and gold respectively have low wetting property with respect to solder, so that diffusion of melted solder stops at the portion.

  • Patent number: 6890589
Abstract: Into a mixture solution 2 of a high-refractive-index photo-curable resin A and a low-refractive-index photo-curable resin B, light capable of curing only the resin A is led through an optical fiber 1 so that a cured resin 211 of the resin A having a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of a core portion of the optical fiber is formed so as to extend from a tip of the optical fiber. Then, the residual mixture solution 2 is cured. In this manner, a module having the previously cured high-refractive-index resin 211 as an optical waveguide can be formed easily. On this occasion, the mixed state of the mixture solution 2 can be kept good enough to facilitate the formation of the high-refractive-index resin 211 when the solubility parameter ?A of the high-refractive-index photo-curable resin A and the solubility parameter ?B and volume fraction ?B of the low-refractive-index photo-curable resin B satisfy the following expression (4). |?A??B|<?7.5?B+6.

  • Patent number: 6745863
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement in an exhaust system structure for a motorcycle. A motorcycle has an engine disposed between front and rear wheels, an exhaust pipe extending from the engine, and a silencer connected to the exhaust pipe for discharging exhaust gases. The silencer, which is a heavy object, is of the type having a gas outlet disposed near a gas inlet. The silencer is disposed below the engine with the gas inlet facing toward the rear wheel, and the exhaust pipe extends to a position near the rear wheel and is connected to the gas inlet of the silencer. By elongating the length of the exhaust pipe and placing the silencer under the engine, the exhaust system performs sufficiently with high output engines, while at the same time lowers the center of gravity of a motorcycle body and balances the weight of the motorcycle body in its longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 6565726
Abstract: Feed water, fed through an inlet 6 into a desalting compartment 8, flows around the end 4a of a anion-exchange membrane 4 surrounding an anode 2a. The feed water enters into a portion defined between the anion-exchange membrane 4 and a cation-exchange membrane 5, and flows around the end 5a of the cation-exchange membrane 5 surrounding a cathode 3a. Then, the water to be treated further flows around the ends 4b, 5b of ion-exchange membranes 4, 5 surrounding an anode 2b and a cathode 3b, respectively, and then flows out through a product water outlet 7. A part of product water is supplied to the concentrated water circulating within the concentrating compartment 30, 40. A part of the concentrated water flowing out of the concentrating compartment 30, 40 is added to concentrated water circulating within the concentrating compartment 10, 20. The diffusion of silica from the concentrating compartment is restricted. As a result, final product water containing extremely low silica concentration is obtained.
