  • Patent number: 5814872
Abstract: Each signal line connected to one light receiving element array is placed between switching transistors of the switching transistor array corresponding to another light receiving element array over the entire light receiving element arrays, so that the wiring capacity values occurring in the signal lines can be made uniform. High-quality image signals excellent in half tone reproducibility with few variations in dark output and a wide dynamic range of sensor output can be provided.

  • Patent number: 5524992
Abstract: A small printer is disclosed which contains a character member, such as a character ring or a character belt. The character member comprises a plurality of character bodies which are connected by coupling portions and which comprise dot-like projections which form dot characters. The small printer also has a device to rotate the character member in order to place a desired dot character body which contains the dot character to be printed between a hammer and a piece of paper. Subsequently, the hammer strikes the desired character body and the dot character is printed on the paper. Since the small printer has the above-described construction, the small printer is less expensive and smaller than conventional printers.

  • Patent number: 5217152
Abstract: A gear mechanism provides for intermittent drive operation with precision stop location of angular position of one (driven) gear driven by another (drive) gear which is accomplished by increasing the precision of the distance maintained between the rotational centers of the gears so that a stabilized and precision amount of gear engagement is provided between both gears resulting in a precise amount of rotation imparted to the driven gear per revolution of the drive gear. The precisions of the distant between the gear rotational centers is accomplished by engagement of circumferential surfaces of corresponding cylindrical portions on each gear or provided on associated gears in the gear train of the gear mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4824617
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a plastic foam, wherein a plastic compound with chemical foaming agent is charged in molding cavity which is defined by a pair of upper and lower die cavities and wherein the plastic compound is subject to a dielectric heating, so that the chemical foaming agent decomposes. One of the cavity surfaces is movable to vary the volume of the molding cavity in accordance with the expansion of the plastic compound, so that the movable cavity surface is kept in contact with the plastic compound which expands during heating.

  • Patent number: 4622191
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a decorative molding having an outer surface layer with a round peripheral edge, comprising preparing a desired shape of decorative base plate which has an outer decorative layer and a mounting surface of a plastic layer which shrinks when heated, pouring thermo-setting liquid plastic onto the outer surface of the decorative layer of the base plate to coat the outer surface with liquid plastic, and then heating the liquid plastic to cure the same and heating the plastic layer of the base plate so that a predetermined amount of shrinkage of the plastic layer takes place.

  • Patent number: 4573422
Abstract: A transverseless ship has at least its side portions and bottom portion comprised of a double hull construction which comprises an inner hull plating and an outer hull plating connected together only by transverse bulkheads and a plurality of longitudinal connecting member fixed to the bulkheads. The bottom portion of the ship has a space defined by at least two optionally selected connecting longitudinal members and divided by two horizontal partitions into two upper chambers and a lower chamber. The upper chambers are adapted to pass different fluids therethrough, and the lower chamber is provided with docking brackets each conforming to the sectional shape thereof. With this structure, external forces acting on the ship are delivered from the connecting longitudinal members to the transverse bulkheads to prevent the inner and outer platings from buckling.

  • Patent number: 4548154
Abstract: A ship having at least its side portions and bottom portion comprised of a double hull construction consisting of an inner hull plating and an outer hull plating connected together solely, except for transverse bulkheads disposed in spaced apart relation in the lengthwise direction of the ship, by a plurality of connecting longitudinals fixed to the bulkheads, at least one of the connecting longitudinals having anti-buckling means extending in the lengthwise direction thereof and tripping means extending in the widthwise direction thereof. According to this arrangement, external forces exerted on the ship may be transmitted through the connecting longitudinals to the transverse bulkheads so that the inner and outer hull platings may be protected from buckling. The absence of transverses crossing the longitudinals considerably facilitates the automatization of welding operation.

  • Patent number: 4452137
Abstract: A printer for printing a row of characters on a recording medium. The printer includes at least first and second type rings having types disposed on the periphery thereof which are rotatable from a reset position to a print position. First and second pawls are associated with the first and second type rings, respectively. A control member moves the first pawl into engagement with the first type ring when in its reset position to prevent rotation thereof. The second type ring is rotated into a print position while the first type ring is held in its reset position by the first pawl. A lever associated with the first and second pawls is actuated by an electromagnet to move the second pawl into engagement with the second type ring when in a print position to stop the rotation thereof. The control member releases the first pawl from the first type ring which then rotates to a print position.

  • Patent number: 4387643
Abstract: A small printer using character wheels is provided. The printer includes a plurality of character wheels frictionally mounted on a shaft for rotation therewith and having a ratchet wheel on side surface. Associated with each character wheel is a pivotable selector pawl actuatable by an electromagnet. The number of electromagnets is less than the number of selector pawls and character wheels. Stopper cams are actuatable into locking engagement with the ratchet wheels on even-numbered character wheels when the shaft begins to rotate. Only odd-numbered character wheels are caused to rotate with the shaft. The desired characters on the odd-numbered character wheels are selected when the electromagnets are energized selectively to move the selector pawls into locking engagement with the ratchets on the odd-numbered character wheels. During the next revolution of the shaft, the stoppers are retracted, that is, out of engagement with the ratchets on the even-numbered type wheels.
