  • Patent number: 6597071
Abstract: The impossibility of starting a starter motor by using a non-contact type position sensor for deciding an engine start is eliminated. An engine starting apparatus includes a non-contact type position sensor for detecting the range position of a drive mechanism having a prime mover as a power source; a control device for the drive mechanism; drive means for driving the prime mover; a power source device for supplying an electric power to the drive means and the control device; and conduction means for making the drive means and the power source device conductive in response to a signal from an ignition switch S and a signal outputted by the control device on the basis of the range position detected by the position sensor. As a result, the starter motor can be started without mounting the contact type start switch.
