  • Patent number: 6517384
Abstract: A connector has an insulating housing with a cutout in the side through which is inserted an EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) filter. Multiple signal transmission members are extended through said insulated housing with only selected transmission members piercing the EMI filter. Because only certain signal transmission members extend through the filter, EMI measures can be taken only in the part where voltage is impressed, and by not interposing the EMI filter between non-voltage bearing transmission members, the standard electric potentials can be made uniform.

  • Patent number: 6010370
Abstract: An electrical connector component has a body portion and a plurality of conductive terminals disposed within the connector body portion. The terminals are arranged at regular intervals and partially embedded in at least one sidewall of the connector body portion during the process of insert-molding the connector component. Each terminal includes a contact portion and a solder tail portion which extends out of the body portion. The contact and engagement portions are retained in place on the connector body portion by virtue of being partially embedded in the body portion, thus preventing movement or deformation of the contact portion in the connector body portion because of forces applied thereto during molding.

  • Patent number: 5885092
Abstract: A connector assembly facilitates the registration of connector components. A plug connector in the assembly has a housing with a top surface defining a mating channel configured in a closed loop. A receptacle connector in the assembly has side walls of the housing configured in a closed loop which are received in the mating channel of the plug connector during mating. Terminals in the plug connector have contact portions disposed along the mating channel which engage respective contact portions of terminals disposed along the side walls of the receptacle connector upon mating.

  • Patent number: 5876217
Abstract: A connector assembly with improved retention characteristics includes opposing plug and receptacle connector housings, each containing conductive terminals. The terminals of one of the connector housings, preferably the plug connector housing include body portions with separate contact and locking portions extending upwardly therefrom and spaced apart from each other define a nest therebetween. The nest receives a portion of the other connector housing and the terminal contact and locking portions engage opposing sides of the other connector housing portion. The contact portions fictionally engage the other connector housing terminals while the locking portions positively engage recesses formed in the other connector housing.

  • Patent number: 5688149
Abstract: An electrical terminal includes an elongated planar body portion defining generally parallel opposite sides and opposite edges. A contact portion extends forwardly of the body portion, and a terminating portion extends rearwardly of the body portion. The body portion includes a retention section having a retention nib coined out of each edge of the body portion, with each retention nib defining a generally planar surface offset from one side of the body portion and generally parallel thereto. The planar surfaces of the retention nibs are adapted for engaging one side of a passage in a connector housing, as the opposite side of the body portion engages the opposite side of the passage.

  • Patent number: 5632646
Abstract: An improved electric connector which permits insertion of a flexible flat cable in its insertion space without causing oblique insertion or misalignment between the exposed conductors of the cable and the terminals of the connector housing. The central feature of the electric connector resides in the lateral distance between the opposed side walls of the connector housing to be tapered with a dimension smaller than the width of the flexible flat cable.

  • Patent number: 5507657
Abstract: An electrical connector is adapted for mounting to a mounting surface of an electrical apparatus through the engagement of a vacuum-suction nozzle of a pick and place machine. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a first interface adapted to be positioned adjacent the mounting surface of the electrical apparatus, a second interface opposite the first interface and opposite side walls extending between the interfaces. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing for interconnection to circuitry on the electrical apparatus. A removable cover is positionable on the housing over at least a portion of the second interface. The cover has a generally planar, smooth surface for engagement by the vacuum-suction nozzle. Slidable retention shoulders are provided between the cover and the side walls of the housing and are adapted to retain the cover on the housing with substantial force in a direction generally normal to the smooth surface of the cover.

  • Patent number: 5498167
Abstract: A low profile hermaphroditic electrical connector is provided for mounting on the surface of a first printed circuit board and is adapted to mate with an identical second connector mounted on the surface of a second printed circuit board to electrically and mechanically couple the boards together. Each connector includes a housing mounting a plurality of stamped female and male terminals. Each terminal includes a surface mounting portion for electrically engaging the respective printed circuit board, a mating portion adapted to mate with the mating portion of the terminal of the opposite gender of the other hermaphroditic connector, and a portion for holding the terminal in the housing. The mating portion of the female terminal includes two opposed, spaced apart contact arms. The arms and the terminal holding portion both project from the mounting portion. The mating portion of the male terminal includes a contact post adapted to be received between the contact arms of the female terminal.

  • Patent number: 5306182
Abstract: An electric connector female terminal assures steady contact between a male terminal irrespective of the position and angle of insertion of the male terminal. The female terminal comprises a pair of contact beams defining a path completely through the female terminal for accommodating a male terminal. A connecting piece is integrally formed with the contact beams and extending therebetween, the connecting piece being positioned out of the path for accommodating the male terminal and incorporating resilient means for resiliently biasing the contact beams carrying the contact points to a predetermined initial position.
