  • Publication number: 20110229037
Abstract: An objective is to eliminate dotted lines in a character box in image data to increase the character recognition rate. There are some cases in which a dotted line candidate cannot be extracted due to many overlapping parts of dotted lines and characters or due to a blurry part in a dotted line. In such cases, the position of a dotted line candidate is estimated referring to features such as the interval, length, width, etc. of a dotted line candidate in the same character box (or in a character box for another relevant item), and image data of the estimated position and image data of a previously extracted dotted line (or a reference dotted line) are compared to determine whether or not they are an identical dotted line.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a puncture-sealing agent, which effectively prevents gelification of the puncture-sealing agent caused by agglomerates of rubber latex and that can enhance the productivity of the puncture-sealing agent is provided. The manufacturing method includes a first mixing process of mixing an antifreeze liquid with water to obtain a mixture liquid A1; a second mixing process of adding the mixture liquid A1 dropwise into a rubber latex that is being stirred and performing mixing to obtain a mixture liquid A2, while increasing the stirring speed as a liquid amount of the mixture liquid A2 increases; and a third mixing process of mixing the mixture liquid A2 with a tackifier. An amount of variation in the stirring speed is preferably from 0.1 rpm/mm to 6.0 rpm/mm, and a dropwise-addition rate of the mixture liquid A1 is preferably from 0.5 kg/min to 500 kg/min.

  • Patent number: 8000503
Abstract: A biometrics authentication system utilizes information of the palm of the hand of a body to perform individual authentication. A processing unit obtains an image of the palm of the hand of the same body a plurality of times from an image capture unit, judges the degrees of similarity among the characteristic data sets of the plurality of images of the palm of the hand, and registers a plurality of characteristic data sets with a high degree of similarity in a storage unit. And the shape of the hand in the image is checked from the outlines in the image of the palm of the hand, so it is possible to rapidly judge whether image capture has been successful and extract characteristic data, and registration processing can be executed in a short length of time.

  • Patent number: 7747043
Abstract: A biometrics authentication system uses biometrics information to authenticate individuals. A processing unit acquires biometrics information for the same living body a plurality of times from a detection unit, judges the mutual degree of similarity between biometrics characteristic data sets extracted from the above biometrics information acquired a plurality of times, and registers a plurality of biometrics characteristic data sets with a high degree of similarity in a storage unit. As a result, verification can be performed which accommodates changes in the state of the living body, without lowering verification accuracy.

  • Patent number: 7729025
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to improve the compression ratio of a color image and to clearly display the outlines of characters and the like. A hue cluster classifying/unifying unit reduces the number of hue values of each pixel in a color image, based on a hue histogram, allocates the number-reduced hue value to each pixel and classifies pixels with the same hue value into one cluster. Furthermore, the unit unifies clusters whose hue values are below a predetermined value. The unit also traces the outline of a cluster whose size is below a reference value and determines that a cluster that has a lot of change points belongs to a character area. An encoding unit determines the characteristic of each cluster, based on both an area determined by an area determining unit and whether the cluster belongs to a ruled line area or a character area, and encodes pixels in each cluster by a coding method suitable for the characteristic of the cluster.

  • Patent number: 7729536
Abstract: An edge detecting method detects edge segments by searching all of the search lines forming an image from an end of the image in a direction perpendicular to the edges. If a line whose edge segment cannot be detected exists, a search is made in all of the search lines from the vicinity of the center of the image toward the end of the image, whereby edge segments are detected. A linear edge is determined from edge segments. A plurality of edge candidates are obtained from the edge segments for all of the search lines, and an optimum candidate is selected from among the edge candidates. Ruled lines are extracted from the source document in the image, and an optimum candidate is selected based on a comparison with a ruled line. As a result, an edge of the source document can be detected with high accuracy even if an image on a background side is unstable, or if materials of the background and the source document are similar.

  • Patent number: 7725733
Abstract: A biometrics authentication device uses biometrics information to perform individual authentication. Primary and secondary verification of biometrics characteristic data from an image capture device are performed by a control unit and IC card. The biometrics character data is scrambled and transmitted between devices. The second registration data which is more important to authentication is stored within the IC card, and first registration data is registered in the IC card in a scrambled state. Security is improved, and moreover the load on the CPU of the IC chip in the IC card is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20090245585
Abstract: A body part guidance control is performed in a non-contact biometrics authentication device which performs individual authentication utilizing characteristics of a body part which is a portion of a human body, for guiding the body part so as to capture images without contact. The future position at the time of message display is predicted by using body part positions of n times in the past and the guidance message can be selected according to this predicted position to output an appropriate message. Hence the time for guidance into an appropriate image capture region can be shortened, the output of messages for movement in the direction opposite the body part movement can be prevented, and inducement of confusion in the user can be prevented, so that the speed of authentication can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20090245593
Abstract: A pattern alignment method performs alignment of the comparison source pattern or the comparison target pattern that has been subjected to the angle-scale conversion with the comparison source pattern. Angular deviations and scale factors between the comparison source pattern and the comparison target pattern are computed separately, after angle and scale conversion, the measured template matching is performed. Therefore, parallel-displacement alignment can be made faster and precise alignment is possible. Template matching processing can be minimized, and aligning can be performed precisely and rapidly.
