Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an image acquisition unit configured to acquire a plurality of images, an object recognition unit configured to recognize an object of interest existing in any one of the images acquired by the image acquisition unit, a background evaluation unit configured to evaluate an image existing in an image area other than an image area showing the object of interest recognized by the object recognition unit, an object evaluation unit configured to evaluate any image existing in the image area showing the object of interest recognized by the object recognition unit, an image selection unit configured to select a plurality of images from the images in accordance with results of the evaluations performed by the background evaluation unit and object evaluation unit, and an image composition unit configured to compose a new image by using the images selected by the image selection unit.
