  • Patent number: 6328008
Abstract: A valve timing control system includes; a rotor rotated by a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine; a camshaft rotated according to the rotation of the rotor to open and close an intake valve and an exhaust valve of the internal combustion engine; and a rotational phase controller for variably controlling a rotational phase of the camshaft relative to the rotor. The rotational phase controller is disposed between the rotor and the camshaft. The rotational phase controller includes; a clutch selectably put in one of a holding state for forbidding a relative rotation between the rotor and the camshaft in at least one of rotational directions and a releasing state for allowing the relative rotation; and a generator for generating a holding toque directing to the rotational direction forbidden by the clutch and applying the holding torque to the clutch when the clutch is put in the holding state.

  • Patent number: 5131485
Abstract: An apparatus for steering rear wheels of a four-wheel steering vehicle is provided. This apparatus includes a first housing which has an operating rod displaceable along the longitudinal center line thereof for steering the rear wheels, a second housing which has a cam rotatably supported thereby for displacing the operating rod in a desired direction, a movable block engaging with the cam, and a stationary block mounted on the operating rod. The movable block moves along a guide rod provided in the second housing according to rotation of the cam. The stationary block transmits the movement of the movable block to the operating rod at a first angular position between the guide rod and the operating rod and blocks the transmission of the movement of the movable block at a second angular position different from the first position.

  • Patent number: 5022505
Abstract: A clutch is provided which comprises a first rotatable member, a second rotatable member provided for rotational movement relative to the first rotatable member, a coil spring wound around the first and second rotatable members, and a one-way brake. Rotation of the second rotatable member in at least one direction causes the coil spring to contract so as to fasten together the first and the second rotatable members to rotate synchronously. The one-way brake is adapted for restricting the coil spring from rotating in the winding direction and allowing it to rotate in the release direction so as to allow independent rotation of the first and second rotatable members. Therefore, power can be transmitted to the first rotatable member from the second rotatable member but not in the other direction.

  • Patent number: 4870864
Abstract: First and second Hall-effect proximity sensors are arranged in combination with a magnet so that when the magnet is moved under the influence of an accelerative force or the like the output of one sensor increases while the other decreases. The magnitude of the difference between the two outputs is indicative of the force while the effects of temperature on the individual signals mutually offset one and other.

  • Patent number: 4784002
Abstract: A torque sensor comprising a first shaft having a fore end portion which is constructed such that a displacement of torsion thereof occurs; a second shaft connected to the first shaft through the fore end portion; a plurality of first magnetic segments each having a N-pole as a fixed magnetic pole and second magnetic segments each having a S-pole as a fixed magnetic pole; a plurality of first magnetism pickup path members and second magnetism pickup path members corresponding in number to the N-pole of the first magnetic segments and the S-pole of the second magnetic segments, respectively; and a magnetism detecting element provided in the first shaft so that it does not contact with the first shaft and adapted for detecting change in magnetic flux passsing through the first and second magnetism pickup path members.

  • Patent number: 4573258
Abstract: In manufacturing a DC motor body (1) including a motor magnet (2), conventionally, a magnetized magnet (2) is fitted to one by one to the cylindrical molding core (11) and a motor body is injection-molded within a cavity formed between a motor body forming mold (10) and a cylindrical molding core (11) to which the magnet is attached. Therefore, the magnet should previously be molded and stocked before molding the motor body, thus not being applicable to mass-production processes. To overcome the above problems, the motor magnet (2) and the motor body (1) are molded in sequence in accordance with two separate molding steps by the use of the same molding core. This method can eliminate troublesome magnetic fitting work, the need of magnet stock and enhance the dimensional precision of motor magnet, thus being applicable to mass-production process while increasing the energy transduction efficiency of the DC motor.
