  • Patent number: 6618065
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus which can forms a high-quality image with high resolution while stabilizing potential and size of an electrostatic latent image and in which the wearing of electrodes and a latent image carrier can be reduced, thereby improving the durability thereof. The image forming apparatus comprises a latent image carrier 2 and a substrate 3a on which a plurality of writing electrodes 3b are formed along the axial direction of said latent image carrier. The latent image carrier 2 and the substrate 3a are arranged in elastic contact with each other so as to form an electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier 2.

  • Publication number: 20030117478
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus of the present invention, a resistant layer 13 of each writing electrode 3b is formed substantially in a semi-circular convex shape projecting upwardly. Therefore, the top of the resistant layer 13 is a spherical surface so that the resistant layer 13 is in point contact with the charged layer 2d of the latent image carrier 2. Because of point contacts, foreign matters adhering to the surface of the latent image carrier 2 are easily allowed to pass, thereby preventing the occurrence of filming on the surface of the latent image carrier 2.

  • Publication number: 20030076400
Abstract: According to the present invention, writing electrodes 3b of a writing device 3 are kept in contact with a latent image carrier 2 with a small pressing force by a weak restoring force of a substrate 3a. An electrostatic latent image is written on the latent image carrier 2 by applying or removing charge relative to the latent image carrier 2 which are already uniformly charged by a charge control device 7. The application or removal of charge is conducted via charge-transfer between the latent image carrier 2 and the writing electrodes 3b which are in contact with each other. The electrostatic latent image is developed by a developing device 4 to form a developing powder image and this developing powder image is transferred to a receiving medium 5 such as a paper by a transferring device 6.

  • Publication number: 20030071885
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus of the present invention, the voltage of a chargeable layer 2b of an image carrier 2 at the portion to be in contact with writing electrodes 3b is adjusted by a surface potential adjusting member 8 which is disposed to be in contact with the chargeable layer 2b between the writing electrodes 3b and a transfer roller 6a. That is, even if the reverse charge injection occurs because the transfer voltage is applied to the transfer roller 6a and the transfer roller 6a is in contact with the chargeable layer 2b of the image carrier 2 at an interval between a printed paper 5 and the next paper 5, the potential of the chargeable layer 2b at the portion to be in contact with the writing electrodes 3b is adjusted not to exceed the withstand voltage of IC drivers 7 of the writing electrodes 3b by the surface potential adjusting member 8.

  • Patent number: 6518990
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus of the present invention, a plurality of writing electrodes are supported by an elastic and flexible substrate such that the writing electrodes are aligned in a plurality of rows each extending in the axial direction of the latent image carrier (in the main scanning direction). The writing electrodes are each formed in, for example, a triangle and alternately inverted. In this case, one end of a writing electrode is overlapped with a next writing electrode, as seen in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the latent image carrier (the rotational direction of the latent image carrier; the feeding direction). Therefore, this design prevents occurrence of image defect due to linear stains and allows foreign matters adhering to the surface of the latent image carrier to pass through spaces between the adjacent writing electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6473107
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus comprising a latent image carrier and a writing means having a plurality of writing electrodes which are aligned in the axial direction of the latent image carrier and arranged in contact with or proximity to the latent image carrier to form an electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier, the contact width of the writing means relative to the latent image carrier is set to be smaller than the contact width of any cleaning means, the width of a toner carrying portion of a developing means confronting the latent image carrier, the width of a transferring means, and the width of a charge removing portion of a charge removing means. In addition, the width of the writing means is set to be smaller than the width of the latent image carrier.

  • Publication number: 20020155298
Abstract: The present invention relates to a resin composition containing an epoxy resin, an amine-type curing agent, an organophosphorus compound having a structure represented by formula 1 and an organic solvent, wherein the epoxy resin and the organophosphorus compound has been compounded at a temperature of 50° C. or lower. The resin composition has enough flame retardancy without containing any halogen-containing flame retarder, has good heat resistance and good chemical resistance, and causes no problems with respect to reaction stability or curability caused by consumption of an epoxy resin through a reaction occurring during compounding of the resin composition.

  • Publication number: 20020146558
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide an image carrier which is capable of securely preventing the leakage of charge in lateral direction so as to stably conduct the application or removal of charge and which can be easily manufactured. An image carrier comprises a dielectric layer, wherein charge is transferred between the dielectric layer and a charge-transfer controlling means so as to apply charge to or remove charge from the dielectric layer, wherein the dielectric layer is formed in such a structure that a large number of conductive portions are formed to be separately dispersed in its outer surface. Charge is transferred between the conductive portions and the charge-transfer controlling means so as to apply charge to or remove charge from the conductive portions.
