  • Publication number: 20070079349
Abstract: Various kinds of digital broadcast recording and playback are supported even when PSI (Program Specific Information) or SI (Service Information) is unknown. A management area of an information storage medium used in digital broadcast recording has management information for each broadcast station, and also management information of a type that does not specify any broadcast station. The management information of the type that does not specify any broadcast station includes information indicating invalidity of information (PSI, SI) associated with broadcast contents.

  • Publication number: 20070065106
Abstract: On an optical disk, video object sets (VTST_VOBS) to be reproduced and video title set information (VTSI) serving as management information on the video object sets have been stored. In each video object set (VTST_VOBS), many data cells, each containing video, audio, and sub-picture data, are arranged. Management information on programs chains, which are combinations of programs to be reproduced one after another, has been written in a video title set PGC table (VTS_PGCIT). By referring to the program chain table (VTS_PGCIT) according to the user's input, the playback order of program chains can be changed, enabling the program chains to be reproduced one after another in various modes.

  • Publication number: 20070053654
Abstract: An embodiment may allow not only information management of contents which are to be recorded and played back by the user but also information management which has affinity for contents distributed by contents providers. An information storage medium may have a file structure that manages first high-definition video information which can be recorded by the user and second high-definition video information which can be provided by a contents provider. The management area is configured to include management information used to manage playback of the digital stream signal including the second high-definition video information.

  • Patent number: 7187848
Abstract: The erasion level appending range of a file is instructed. According to this instruction, the erasion level is set. When this setting range does not agree with the cell unit of the current cell, the current cell is divided to set a sequence of divided cells. Playback management information of each of the divided cells and current cell is re-created, and erasion level information is appended to playback management information of the divided cell that belongs to the appending range.

  • Patent number: 7177521
Abstract: Upon playback of stream data which is recorded while being appended with time stamp information in units of packets, time management is made using the time stamp information. A video playback time viewed from the user, which may be indicated by I-, B-, and P-picture display times, is different from the time of the time stamp information. For this reason, when time management for the stream data recorded on an information storage medium is made using only the time stamp information, display time control (video playback time control) for the user cannot be accurately done. In this invention, a time relationship table indicating the relationship between the time stamp information recorded in stream data at each I-picture start time position and display time information (PTS or field information) for the user is provided to a portion of management information.
