Abstract: A durable light resistance and UV-screening action is imparted to a fibrous article by coating the fibrous article with a polymer comprising units derived from at least one monomer selected from those which are represented by the formulae (1) and (2): ##STR1## wherein R is H or CH.sub.3 and X is --O--, --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O-- or --OCH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)O--, ##STR2## wherein Y is halogen or CH.sub.3, n is 1 or 2, R.sub.1 is C1-6 hydrocarbyl, m is 1 or 2, R.sub.2 is C1-6 alkylene and R.sub.3 is H or CH.sub.3.

Abstract: Light-stabilized acrylonitrile polymer fiber and polyurethane elastomer fiber are made by incorporating a copolymer of 20-80 weight % of a benzophenone compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl and X is --O--, --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O-- or --OCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 O--, and 80-20 weight % of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with an acrylonitrile polymer or a polyurethane elastomer; and a dope of the polymer mixture in an organic solvent is wet-spun into a fiber.

Abstract: A rust inhibitor comprising, as an effective component, at least one compound having the following general formulae (A), (B) and (C) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a hydrocarbon group containing an aromatic ring and having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, m and n are independently 0 or an integer of 1 to 3, R.sub.3 or R.sub.4 is hydrogen in the case of m or n is 0, X is O, S, SO.sub.2, CO or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 9 ca toxicity and is easily applicable in either a water-soluble state or an oil-soluble state.
