    Abstract: A wheel supporting device includes: a hub unit that has a rotary ring having a first spline on its axially inner end face; and a joint that has an outer ring having a second spline, meshing with the first spline, on its axially outer end face. At least one projection included in a plurality of projections of the first spline projects in the axial direction by a larger amount than the remaining projections of the first spline. When a crest of the at least one projection contacts a crest of one of projections of the second spline, a play is caused between the rotary ring and the outer ring due to the at least one projection that works as a fulcrum.

    Abstract: A ball joint includes a tubular boot, an upper end portion and a lower end portion of which are fitted onto an intermediate portion of a shaft of a ball stud and an open end of a housing, respectively. An annular lip portion is formed at the upper end portion of the boot. The lip portion has a first sliding contact face that is in contact with an outer periphery of the shaft, a second sliding contact face that is in contact with a lower face of the knuckle arm, and an annular rib that is formed so as to project inward beyond the first sliding contact face from an upper end portion of the first sliding contact face. The rib is elastically deformed due to contact with the shaft so as to extend along the first sliding contact face and project upward beyond the second sliding contact face.

    Abstract: In the rolling bearing device with a sensor in this invention, a band-shaped film 111 having insulation property is affixed to an outer circumferential surface of an outer ring 101 so as to extend in the circumferential direction. On the film 111 is affixed a foil 112 composed of identical four portions and having electrical conductivity which are placed at generally equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the outer ring 101. A resistance between a first place and a second place of the foil 112 is measured by a resistance measurement section of a microcomputer. A preload calculation section of the microcomputer, upon reception of an output from the resistance measurement section, calculates a preload of the outer ring 101 based on the measured resistance.
