Abstract: A user terminal connected to a PSTN sends a remote maintenance contract signal and a connection completion signal that represents the completion of connection between a user-side LAN and a network interface, to the host terminal via the PSTN. When receiving the contract signal and the connection completion signal, the host terminal selects the Internet as a transmission line for sending remote maintenance information of the user terminal, and sends setting information for enabling communication between the user terminal and the host terminal via the Internet, to the user terminal via the PSTN.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to enable a facsimile apparatus not having a relay function to normally receive facsimile communication and a facsimile apparatus having the relay function to transfer facsimile communication to other facsimile apparatuses as relay destinations. Information succeeding an RTC signal transmitted after transmission of image data of one page by a facsimile communication procedure in accordance with an ITU recommendation is handled as a transfer address designating a relay destination. An E-mail address can be designated as the transfer address besides a telephone address. When facsimile communication is transferred to the E-mail address, the image data received by facsimile communication is converted to a data format suitable for a protocol of an information communication network and is then transferred.

Abstract: In a telephone which is connected to a public telephone network, data constellation which comprises telephone number to connect of an access point as a connection point to a communication system for connecting a transmission side and the receiving party through the Internet communication network from the public telephone network and a plurality of passwords for allowing utilization of the communication system are stored in RAM in association with a specific key operation such as an abbreviated dial, or an one-touch dial in a key input part, and in response to input of the specific key operation, the telephone number to connect is read out from RAM and sent out, and thereafter, any one of the plurality of passwords is read out from the RAM and sent out.

Abstract: In a facsimile apparatus equipped with a plurality of printing paper cassettes or trays for accommodating printing paper on which an output image is to be printed, the apparatus has designation means for designating one of the plurality of printing paper cassettes or trays as a special cassette or tray for accommodating separating paper in accordance with user's operation, and the special cassette or tray is controlled so that the paper accommodated in the special cassette or tray is not used to print the output image.

Abstract: On a displaying unit, there are displayed facsimile numbers or names of destinations as contents of the first table stored in a storage device, from which a user selects a destination to which the user desires to transmit a facsimile by using dialing keys and operation keys. When the desired destination is selected, functions or items of additional information corresponding to the selected destination are displayed on the displaying unit. When the user selects a function which the user desires to use or an item of the additional information which the user desires to transmit, the controlling unit transmits the selected item of the additional information to the selected destination. A facsimile apparatus that can facilitate selection of items of additional information transmitted to a destination with improved convenience is provided.

Abstract: A facsimile apparatus capable of simultaneously being connected to a plurality of lines, which allows, with improved usability of the lines, dialing by the operator or automatic control by the apparatus over an idle line of the plurality of lines in cases where the apparatus has already been connected to another apparatus, for communication or operation for establishing a communication by accessing or being accessed from another apparatus and includes a comparison device for comparing a first subscriber number of a previously connected end and a second subscriber number of an end which will be dialed, and a controller for controlling the dialing operation when the comparison device finds that the first and the second subscriber numbers are identical.
