    Abstract: A navigation system for a vehicle includes an input unit configured to receive an input corresponding to a destination, a determining unit configured to determine if the input destination corresponds to a route that includes a ferry route or a rail-based route, a modifying unit configured to modify the input destination to a modified destination that corresponds to a termination of a road linked to the route or in the vicinity of a terminal of the route, when it is determined that the input destination corresponds to a location on the route. A route guidance unit is configured to search for a guide route to the modified destination and perform guidance along the guide route, wherein when the navigation system in the vehicle arrives at the termination of the road or in the vicinity thereof, or when the vehicle is positioned in the vicinity of the terminal, and the navigation system is turned off, and the route guidance unit determines that the vehicle has arrived at the destination.
