    Abstract: A plurality of magnet holes are arranged in a circumferential direction. Void portions are provided at both ends in the circumferential direction of each magnet hole. Flow holes penetrating in the axial direction are formed, between the magnet holes adjacent in the circumferential direction, on an inner side in a radial direction with respect to the magnet holes. Each core has: first groove portions via which the void portions and the flow holes communicate with each other; and second groove portions via which the void portions and the outer circumferences of the cores communicate with each other and which serve as discharge ports. The end plates have: first holes through which the flow holes are exposed and which serve as intake ports; and tab portions which are located on downstream sides in a rotation direction of the first holes and which assist air intake.

The first and second rules are so determined that a difference becomes a maximum between the probability density function of the first synthesized signal and the probability density function of the second synthesized signal. An output selection unit selectively produces a synthesized signal having a large difference from the Gaussian distribution between the synthesized signals.

The process comprises treating the surface of the above fiber having the above composition with a mineral acid, to produce the heat-resistant glass fiber.

    Abstract: A seat occupant in a vehicle is classified into one of first and second categories by using a support vector machine (SVM). Sensor signals are obtained from seat sensors to form a sensor signal vector. By using the sensor signal vector, a value of a two-value decision function known as SVM is calculated. The seat occupant is decided to be of one of the first and second categories associated with the value. The two-value decision function can be generated through support vector learning by using a set of training vectors obtained from the seat sensors. An airbag system using an inventive seat occupant classifying apparatus is also disclosed.
