  • Publication number: 20060017989
Abstract: An image processing device processes a document including a document data body and at least one set of related data, and includes a display that displays an image of the document data body and an image of the related data overlaid on the image of the document data body at overlay positions determined for each set of related data and an image data generator that generates printing image data of the document data body of the overlay position when an instruction to print the document is received, regardless of whether or not the related data is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20060017949
Abstract: An image processor for combining a computer-readable coded image into a print image of a document including a document data main body and at least one associated data piece, has a print image generator that generates a print image of a document including an image of at least a part of the associated data, a coded image generator that generates a coded image to be combined into the print image, and a controller that determines whether or not the generated coded image can be combined into the image portion of the associated data by comparing a size of the generated coded image with a size of an image portion of the associated data, and combines the generated coded image into the image portion of the associated data on the generated print image, if it is determined that combining is possible.

  • Publication number: 20020052872
Abstract: To secure the capacity of a storing unit by quickly searching and deleting unnecessary electronic information from the storing unit, an electronic information management server has a feature extracting unit extracting a feature of electronic information stored in a storing unit connected to a network, a deciding unit that decides whether the electronic information is to be deleted from the feature extracted by the feature extracting unit based on an instruction from a client, and a deleting unit that deletes from the storing unit via the network the electronic information decided to be deleted by the deciding unit.

  • Patent number: 6343157
Abstract: A raster/block conversion circuit 12 divides an input image from an image input unit 11 into blocks. An image characteristic determination circuit 13 calculates the image characteristic for each block, thereby determining the image type for each block. Based on the determination result of the image characteristic determination circuit 13, a switch circuit 18 adaptively switches an ADCT coding circuit 14 adopting a variable-length irreversible coding technique and an intrablock quad coding circuit 15, an intrablock binary coding circuit 16, and a block run length coding circuit 17 adopting a fixed-length irreversible coding technique.

  • Patent number: 6320981
Abstract: Block representative values are set adaptively based on the feature amount concerning the distribution state of a prepared histogram of input image data. Thus, if block truncation coding is executed based on an input image having mixed CG image and scanned image areas, efficient coding can be performed and a high-quality decomposed image can be provided. Further, when the histogram is divided into image data groups, the image data groups can be again divided to provide a high-quality decomposed image, thus efficient coding can be performed and a high-quality decomposed image can be provided more reliably.

  • Patent number: 6285458
Abstract: An image process apparatus, for use with image data combining areas of different image characteristics such as text and photos, which achieves a predetermined target compression rate and simultaneously minimizes quality deterioration after decompression, is described. The image analysis circuit analyzes the composition of the entire image data and calculates the optimum compression parameter. The compression process is performed using a selected compression method for each predetermined block. At the time of compression, the value of the parameter is used in order to select an appropriate compression method by switching compression methods among a plurality of compression methods for each block unit. Using optimum compression minimizes the amount of memory required to store the information.
