  • Patent number: 8500810
Abstract: Height-adjustable devices suitable for insertion between posterior spinal processes that allow the surgeon to post-operatively adjust the height of the implant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 8, 2007
Date of Patent: August 6, 2013
    Assignee: DePuy Synthes Products, LLC
    Inventors: Brooke Mastrorio, Shinikequa White
  • Patent number: 8377072
Abstract: Devices for implanting a prosthetic device, such as an artificial spinal implant, are provided. The installation tool can include a body, a pair of opposed levers, an optional implant holder disposed between the levers, a drive rod at least partially disposed within the body and able to be coupled to the implant holder and/or implant, and a female threaded member associated with the body and selectively engageable with the drive rod. As the drive rod translates along a longitudinal axis of the installation tool, the implant holder and/or implant separates the levers and distracts adjacent vertebral bodies to position a prosthetic device therebetween. The implant holder and/or implant can be longitudinally advanced in rotation and/or translation modes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 6, 2006
Date of Patent: February 19, 2013
    Assignee: DePuy Spine, Inc.
Inventors: Shawn Stad, Thomas Martin, Shinikequa White, Thomas Gamache
  • Patent number: 7594888
Abstract: An expandable port for minimally invasive surgery includes a first section, a second section, and at least one intermediate section. The port is expandable from a closed configuration in which the first section is proximate the second section along at least a portion of a length of the first section to an expanded configuration in which the first section is spaced apart from the second section. The intermediate portion spans a gap between the first section and the second section when the port is in the expanded configuration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 2005
Date of Patent: September 29, 2009
    Assignee: Depuy Spine, Inc.
Inventors: Douglas Raymond, Shinikequa White, Richard Pellegrino, Anthony Carlone, William Frasier, Connie Marchek, Brian Murphy, Stephen Connolly, Nicholas Pavento, Sara Dziedzic

  • Publication number: 20070123903
Abstract: Methods and devices for implanting a prosthetic device, such as an artificial spinal implant, are provided. The installation tool can include a handle having a pair of opposed levers, an optional pusher block disposed between the levers, and a shaft at least partially disposed within the handle and able to be coupled to the pusher block and/or to a prosthetic device. As the shaft translates along a longitudinal axis of the installation tool, the pusher block and/or the prosthetic device separate the levers and distract adjacent vertebral bodies to position a prosthetic device therebetween. The tool is able to maintain its an overall length during use, and it can be configured in rotation and/or translation modes.
