  • Patent number: 6778473
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for an optical disc having a pit area where data has been recorded and also having a grooved area where data is to be recorded includes an optical pickup, an error signal generating unit, a shift signal generating unit and a servo controller. The optical pickup includes an objective lens for converging a light beam on a signal surface of the optical disc, a photodetector for receiving the light beam reflected from the signal surface and an actuator for moving the objective lens in a direction perpendicular to its optical axis. The shift signal generating unit is responsive to the output signal of the photodetector to generate a lens shift signal corresponding to the amount of shift of the objective lens from its neutral position. The servo controller drives the actuator based on the lens shift signal or the error signal to move the objective lens along the radial direction of the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 5701282
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a recording medium such as an optical disc includes a head, a recording and/or reproduction control unit, an arithmetic operating unit and a display control unit. On the recording medium, management data for controlling recording of data recorded on a data recording area or the operation of recording and/or reproducing recorded data, and address data have been recorded. The head performs recording of data on the recording medium or reading out of recorded data therefrom. The recording and/or reproduction control unit records data on the recording medium discretely by the head, and reads out data discretely recorded on the recording medium as continuous data on the basis of the management data. The arithmetic operating unit arithmetically computes data representative of a reproduction position of data recorded in the data recording area of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5231511
Abstract: Still image recording/playback apparatus comprising an electronic still camera having operating components including an image sensor for sensing an image and producing image signals representative thereof, a recorder for recording image signals derived from the image sensor, playback circuitry for playing back the recorded image signals and a camera controller for controlling at least the recorder and playback circuitry. An electronic player is selectively connectable to the camera and has a signal processor for processing the image signals played back by the playback circuitry to produce viewable picture signals, and a player controller for selectively controlling the operation of the electronic player. When a connection between the camera and player is detected, a predetermined operating mode for both the camera and player is established.

  • Patent number: 5218451
Abstract: In an electronic camera that comprises image-producing element, a signal processing circuit for processing signals from the image-producing element, a record medium for recording signals from the signal processing circuit, a motor for driving the record medium, flash having a charging circuit, a power supply, and a controller for controlling the camera operation, the power to the motor is interrupted by the controller for the duration of time the charging circuit is being charged. In another embodiment, the power is interrupted to both the motor and the signal processing circuit by the controller for the duration of charging, so that a large charging current is available and the signal processing circuit is prevented from erroneous operation due to source voltage drops.

  • Patent number: 5084775
Abstract: Still image record/playback apparatus comprising an electronic camera including an image sensor for sensing an optical image and generating image signals representative thereof, a recorder for recording frames of image signals and selectively operable for playing back recorded image signals and a shutter release switch normally actuable to drive the recorder to record image signals. A player is connectable to the camera and has a signal processor for processing the played back image signals to produce video signals, and a frame feed switch to drive the recorder to play back a frame of image signals. When the camera and player are connected, actuation of the shutter release switch drives the recorder to play back one or more frames of image signals.

  • Patent number: 4959738
Abstract: In driving a stepping motor which, for example, is used to effect tracking movements of a head in an electronic still camera or other magnetic disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus, and which has a rotor and a plurality of phases to which input pulses are applied in predetermined sequences for establishing excitation states by which the rotor is stepped to respective positions, the input pulses are controlled for alternating between first and second excitation states corresponding to adjacent stepped positions between which it is desired to bring the rotor to rest. Such alternation is initially effected at a relatively low frequency so that the rotor oscillates between the stepped positions corresponding to the first and second excitation states, respectively, and then the frequency of alternation between the first and second excitation states is gradually increased to a value at which the rotor no longer oscillates with such alternation and comes to rest at a position between the stepped positions.

  • Patent number: 4933748
Abstract: In an apparatus for processing a repeatedly reproduced single field of a color video signal, the phase of a chrominance subcarrier in the color video signal is shifted by 90 degrees at each field period, and the single repeatedly reproduced field of the color video signal is selectively delayed during alternate field periods for a delay time equal to one-half the horizontal scanning period so that the single field, as repeatedly reproduced and selectively delayed in two successive field periods, can function as interlaced fields of a frame while avoiding distrubance of the chrominance subcarrier due to the selective delaying in alternate field periods.
