Patent number: 5961291Abstract: A turbo vacuum pump has a rotor and magnetic bearings. The magnetic bearings are held in a housing having a suction port and an exhaust port, and support the rotor rotatably. A peripheral flow pump stage and screw pump stage are formed in the rotor, so that the pressure at the exhaust port can be at or near atmospheric pressure level. Before starting the turbo vacuum pump, the magnetic bearings are operated to displace a rotor position and to scrape off the reaction products which have deposited inside the pump. In addition, before starting the turbo vacuum pump, a stator of the pump is heated up to decrease a binding force of the reaction products. Therefore, the pump can be restarted, even if the rotor has locked by the solidification of deposited reaction products formed during stopping of the pump.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Seiko Seiki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seiji Sakagami, Masahiro Mase, Chiaki Urano, Shinji Koyano, Yuichi Kinoshita, Takashi Nagaoka, deceased

Patent number: 5828763Abstract: A speaker system for reproducing a high fidelity sound field. In one embodiment, the speaker system includes at least two speakers, one of which is coupled with a phase shifter for shifting the phase of an audio signal in mid- and high-frequency ranges. The phase shifter shifts the phase between .+-.120.degree. and .+-.180.degree.. In another embodiment, the speaker system includes three speakers and the phase shifter shifts the phase of the audio signal applied to two of the speakers from that of the audio signal applied to the third speaker which is a tweeter.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1993Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Pioneer Electronic CorporationInventors: Shinji Koyano, Koushiro Kogure, Yuichi Saito

Patent number: 5820104Abstract: A vacuum-oriented vertical transfer system which provides super vacuum/super clean environments, and a gate valve assembly which reduces the size of electromagnet sections. The vacuum-oriented vertical transfer system includes a cylindrical partition wall, and a rod vertically moved through an open bottom of a vacuum container. The rod is floatingly supported in radial and axial directions thereof by a radial magnetic support device and an axial magnetic support device, respectively. The gate valve assembly comprises a closure member mounted for positioning adjacent to and away from a port of a container to close and open the port, respectively. A neck member is integrally connected to the closure member and is mounted for movement to position the closure member to open and close the port of the container. A radial magnet device levitates the neck member by magnetic forces in a radial direction thereof. An axial magnetic device levitates the neck member by magnetic forces in an axial direction thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Seiko Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinji Koyano, Ryuichi Matsuzaki

Patent number: 5485910Abstract: A conveyor is of a low power consumption type and has a decreased amount of gas generation. The conveyor is provided with a floating member having a conveying rod on which a workpiece is laid; a conveying body magnetically coupled with the floating member through a sleeve-like partition wall; sensor portions for detecting positions of the floating member; electromagnets for generating magnetic forces for supporting the floating member; targets provided on the floating member so as to face the electromagnets; and an adjusting unit for taking a balance of forces to be applied to the magnetic support portions composed of the electromagnets, the targets and the sensor portions. With thus constructed conveyor, even if the conveying article load (i.e., workpiece weight) is changed, a space between the floating member and the sensor portions may be adjusted within a controllable range with a small amount, of excited magnetic current by the adjusting unit.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1994Date of Patent: January 23, 1996Assignee: Seiko Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshimasa Oda, Shinji Koyano
